Instead of tablets - Kalanchoe. Use of the plant for medicinal purposes

Kalanchoe tincture is a popular traditional medicine, the main component of which grows on the windowsill for many. Kalanchoe is a plant of the succulent family; it has been an indoor plant in our latitudes since the 19th century. Not all of its varieties are suitable for use for medicinal purposes. It is most often recommended to prepare tinctures and use the juice of Kalanchoe pinnate and Bryophyllum Degremon for treatment. You can buy a ready-made product based on Kalanchoe at the pharmacy. You can grow these plants at home or purchase them from a specialty store to make your own tincture. The main thing is to maintain the proportions during production and the dosage when taking it.

What is Kalanchoe

A plant with such an unusual name can be found on almost every windowsill. It is very beautiful, characterized by unusual feathery leaves and multi-colored correspondences. From Chinese, the name of this plant can be translated as “viviparous”. Most likely, this is due to the fact that the children located on the edges of the leaf, falling, are able to take root on their own. Kalanchoe is native to Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.

Today, scientists count about two hundred plant varieties. True, only two of them are medicinal - pinnate Kalanchoe and degremona. All other types may not necessarily be harmful, but you will not receive any benefit from their use. Cirrus Kalanchoe is distinguished by a height of up to 80 centimeters, it has a fairly long stem and dense leaves. Babies appear between the denticles on the leaves. Degremona is native to Central Africa and Madagascar. The height of this plant usually reaches 50 centimeters, it is characterized by thick lanceolate leaves, sometimes slightly bent along the midline, reminiscent of a crocodile's snout. The length of one leaf rarely exceeds 20 cm, they are gray-green in color, with purple spots at the bottom.

How to prepare Kalanchoe tincture

  • You will need 2 tbsp. spoons of crushed parts of the plant and 1 glass of vodka. You need to infuse for 10 days in a dark place (you can just in the kitchen table), shaking daily, then strain and put in a dark, cool place.
  • You can make an alcohol tincture of Kalanchoe. Its application is similar to the previous one. The cut leaves of the plant are put in the refrigerator for a week. After which they are crushed to a mushy state and filtered through cheesecloth. The resulting juice is left in a closed container for another 2 days in the refrigerator. Carefully pour off the top settled layer, and add alcohol or vodka to the remaining sediment in a ratio of 20 to 1 (for 20 parts of juice - 1 part of the alcohol component).

The benefits of a “surgeon without a knife”

Speaking about the Kalanchoe flower (pictured), one cannot help but say that it is often called the “room doctor” or “surgeon without a knife.” The plant lives up to its name entirely. Those who have at least once used Kalanchoe for medicinal purposes note that it allows wounds to heal much faster, protecting them from dirt and pus. However, Kalanchoe copes not only with cuts; moreover, the plant is recognized as medicinal even by official medicine!

What are the medicinal uses of the flower? It is commonly used in dentistry, ophthalmology, surgery, gynecology, and otolaryngology. In general, fame about the amazing properties of the plant spread in the second half of the 20th century. It was then that numerous clinical trials began, which confirmed that burns, wounds that heal poorly, as well as fistulas, heal much faster if you use this amazing plant.

Compound

The Kalanchoe flower (in the photo below you can see Kalanchoe degremona) has a unique composition. The leaves are rich in vitamins C and P, aluminum, copper, manganese, calcium and iron. They also contain a huge amount of tannins, which stop bleeding and eliminate inflammation. Kalanchoe is rich in enzymes that can regulate the rate of biochemical reactions, flavonoids, which are characterized by antimicrobial and choleretic properties. The plant contains organic acids: malic, citric, acetic and oxalic. By the way, there is an opinion that children growing on leaves can rejuvenate the body and significantly slow down aging.

Doctors note that the “room doctor” can even cope with ulcers and tuberculosis. Speaking about what Kalanchoe heals, one cannot fail to note its properties such as:

  • wound healing;
  • antibacterial;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • bactericidal;
  • hemostatic.

In addition, the plant gives a surge of strength and vigor, accumulating positive energy in the house. A person in whose house Kalanchoe grows has a noticeable increase in immunity and a decrease in the level of fatigue.

Harvesting the plant

Of course, Kalanchoe tincture with vodka, the use of which we will talk about later, can be purchased at any pharmacy. The product is available without a prescription and is not in short supply. However, it is best, experts say, to cook it yourself, at home. To do this, you need to know how to properly prepare plants. In order to prepare the medicine, a flower that is more than a year old is suitable. Before cutting flowers and leaves, limit watering for five to seven days. The cut material should be placed in the refrigerator, this will stimulate the production of natural biostimulants, which are so necessary for the human immune system to regenerate injured cells. After a couple of days, the Kalanchoe can be taken out of the refrigerator and grated on a fine grater. The mushy mass can be used to prepare Kalanchoe tincture with vodka, the use of which is possible even for problems such as gingivitis, frostbite, otitis media and prostatitis. This remedy can also be used for varicose veins. The effect of the tincture has been proven not only by people, but also by doctors.

For varicose veins

Kalanchoe tincture with vodka for this problem is considered one of the most highly effective remedies. In general, varicose veins are an enlargement of veins and the walls of blood vessels through which blood flows from tissues to the heart. Veins and vessels become deformed and perform their functions much worse. Varicose veins usually affect the veins in the legs. Doctors list the following as the main causes of varicose veins:

  1. Genetic predisposition. That is, if your parents suffered from this problem, there is a high probability of inheriting it.
  2. Floor. Experts note that varicose veins are much more common in women than in men.
  3. Injuries and surgical interventions that disrupt the functioning of vascular valves.
  4. Excess weight. Extra pounds increase the load on the legs, which leads to problems such as varicose veins.
  5. Great physical activity.
  6. Age.
  7. Pregnancy.

Of course, when using any traditional medicine, it is recommended to consult a specialist. If there are no contraindications, you can easily use Kalanchoe tincture. To do this, apply a small amount of the product to clean palms, and then rub the lower limbs from the feet to the groin area with light massaging movements. The duration of treatment depends on what stage the disease is currently at. Experts note: advanced varicose veins will require continuous treatment for four months.

For joints

In order to reduce joint pain, it is recommended to prepare a special extract. Grind 100 g of Kalanchoe leaves in a meat grinder. Place the pulp in a glass container with 100 ml of vodka. Shaking occasionally, keep the tightly closed vessel in the kitchen cabinet for seven days. Squeeze the finished product through double-layer gauze.

Before use in the evening, it is slightly warmed up, soaked in a soft cotton napkin folded in four layers and applied to the sore joint. Cover with film and secure with a warm scarf overnight. This therapy is practiced for up to four months. As a result, blood circulation increases, pain is relieved, and inflammation is eliminated.

You can use an alcohol tincture made from chopped Kalanchoe leaves. It is recommended to grind the drug in equal parts with kefir. Powdered chalk is gradually added to the mixture until an elastic, uniform mass is obtained. Before going to bed, apply it to the affected area. Leave under cellophane and a woolen scarf until the morning.

The beneficial effect on affected joints is enhanced if you combine Kalanchoe and lilac leaves in identical parts. Place the washed raw materials without tamping in loose layers in a glass container, filling it to the very top. Vodka is poured in. Seal tightly and keep without lighting for 10 days. Use similarly to previous methods for compresses. You can rub aching joints in the morning and evening.

The leaves and shoots of the flower contain a lot of useful components: natural acids, flavonoids, polysaccharides, tannins, micro- and macroelements, vitamins C and P. The solution is used for compresses, lotions, applications, and rubbing. In diluted form, it is used for instillation into the nose for a runny nose or sinusitis.
