Poplar bud essential oil

In ancient Judea, the world-famous “Balm of Gilead” was produced at that time, which was used both in perfumery and for the treatment of various diseases. Over time, its recipe was lost, as was the knowledge of what plant it was extracted from. And only recently, European scientists conducted a series of studies, during which they found out that there is a high probability that it was based on an extract from the buds of black poplar. And such essential oil can now be bought, even moreover, it is available almost everywhere and is affordable!

Ether is extracted using the standard steam distillation method. It is a clear liquid with a pronounced balsamic, fruity aroma that lasts for a long time. This is a 100% environmentally friendly product that contains only plant ingredients. Has zero toxicity!

Properties of poplar bud essential oil

Young poplar buds contain a high concentration of a number of active substances beneficial to health. First of all, it is salicylic acid, which is the basis of aspirin. It contains many other active ingredients.

As for the beneficial properties of poplar oil ether, first of all it is necessary to note the following:

  • Healing. The active substances soothe the wound, anesthetize it, and also have an antiseptic effect, making the healing process faster and easier to tolerate.
  • Anti-inflammatory. Thanks to the same antibacterial effect, the drug reduces the intensity of the development of inflammatory processes, helping the immune system cope with them faster.
  • Painkiller. The product helps relieve pain not only in open wounds, but also in muscles and joints if used during a relaxing or therapeutic massage.
  • Decongestant. Ether accelerates metabolic processes in the body, which helps reduce swelling.
  • Antiseptic. A high content of salicylic acid has a negative effect on pathogenic microflora when treating skin, wounds, and surfaces during cleaning.
  • Antioxidant. Dosed intake of drops inside allows you to speed up the removal of waste and toxins from the body.

In addition, there is a pronounced cosmetic effect. Absorbed into the skin and hair, the components of this product saturate them with vitamins and microelements, which has a positive effect on appearance.

Application of oil

For medicinal purposes, this oil is used in ointments and creams, to which it is added in small quantities. Periodic or regular procedures using it are recommended if you have the following problems:

  • cuts and scratches;
  • inflammation and swelling;
  • pain in the back, muscles and joints;
  • gout and hemorrhoids in the initial stages;
  • burns (including sunburn) and frostbite;
  • rashes and blisters;
  • hair loss, stomatitis;
  • angina.

In all these cases, adding oil to the base allows you to reduce inflammatory and other destructive processes and achieve faster recovery.

Please note: when taken orally, you can take no more than one drop per day, mixing it with bread.

Use in cosmetology is allowed only in the form of mixing with masks, shampoos, lotions and creams in the recommended dosage. It should not be abused by performing procedures more than once a day.

When used in aromatherapy, it is necessary to take into account that the aroma of this oil is stable and lasts for a long time.

Recommended dosage

Essential oil obtained from poplar buds contains significant concentrations of active substances, so it is necessary to strictly follow the recommendations for use and optimal dosages. The amount of ether used depends on the type of procedure and method of application:

  • When adding to lotions and creams for skin and hair care, add 5-7 drops of the product for every 10 grams of base. The same applies to mixing with shampoos, which must be done immediately before application.
  • It is also necessary to add no more than 5-7 drops of oil to the bath, pre-mixed with one tablespoon of emulsifier to ensure uniform distribution and dissolution.
  • In bath procedures, add 3-5 drops for every half liter of water poured onto the heater.
  • Dosage for aroma lamp – 4-6 drops of oil for every 10 square meters. m. area in the room.
  • For disinfection when cleaning a room, it is enough to add 5-10 drops to the water used to clean surfaces. It can also be added directly to detergent.

Please note: exceeding the above dosages will not increase the effect!

Contraindications for use

There are very few prohibitions on the use of poplar essential oil, and they are not original. Thus, it is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as children under three years of age. Another contraindication is individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Please note: essential oil is a concentrated product. Therefore, its use in unprocessed form is not recommended. In addition, a sensitivity test must be performed before first application to the skin. To do this, dilute it in ether in any oil at a 3% concentration, apply and wait for 15-20 minutes. If you do not experience discomfort, burning, redness of the skin or swelling, you can continue full-fledged cosmetic procedures.

Poplar buds as assessed by phytologists

Sedocor or black poplar is such a noticeable beauty, but at the same time the most common tree that can be found in almost many regions of the European territory of Russia. Its slenderness and unpretentiousness attracts workers in landscaping parks and streets of cities and towns.

In June, when the fluff from it causes certain inconvenience to the residents, I hope that the only consolation for many can be a song about poplar fluff and the heat of the month of June. Unfortunately, landscapers have no time for song lyrics and they mercilessly prune this beauty, sometimes leaving ugly stumps from which many shoots grow with respectable persistence.

Phytologists speak with reverent awe about the greatest benefits of poplar buds, as, undoubtedly, the most valuable treasure of biologically active substances, which are in fact in no way inferior to birch buds. The fact that they contain essential oil with a persistent pleasant aroma already means a lot. But they also contain organic acids (malic, benzoic, salicylic), flavonoids, phenol carbonic acids and phenol glucosides.

And yet, interest in poplar buds is caused by the fact that they have quite pronounced antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and sedative effects. The uniqueness of poplar buds is that all the substances included in their composition successfully complement each other and thereby ensure the success of healing.
