How to drink tea correctly during ARVI?

To achieve maximum effect and quick recovery, it is important to drink ginger tea for colds correctly. It is customary to drink it warm, not too hot. It makes it possible to warm up during chills, and also increases sweating. This helps lower body temperature.

A hot drink provokes blood flow and increased microcirculation in the oral mucosa. This gives two positive results:

  • eliminating swelling of the nasal mucosa, which helps improve breathing;

launching restorative and protective processes in the oropharynx.

Ginger tea for colds helps fight coughs. Constant hot drinking softens a rough and dry cough. During wet coughs, drinking fluids thins the mucus and promotes its clearance.

Rules for drinking hot ginger tea for colds:

  1. You should not drink boiling water; the drink should not burn. If the tea is too hot, there is a risk of burning the oropharyngeal mucosa. Suitable temperatures range from 60 to 80 degrees.
  2. Drink liquid after a light snack or 1-2 hours after a meal. If there is no appetite, then drink on an empty stomach. But you should not drink this healing drink after eating heavy and fatty foods. An additional load is created on the stomach, as a result of which the patient will not get the desired result.
  3. To enhance the antipyretic effect, wrap yourself in a warm blanket. After treatment, immediately rest or get a good night's sleep.
  4. After using the healing drink, you should not go out into the cold or engage in heavy physical activity.

If you follow all the rules on how to drink tea with ginger for a cold, the treatment will be most effective.

Ways to use ginger

Ginger root for colds is often used to prepare healing drinks. But this is far from the only way to use the product. There are several methods of combating ARVI with the help of plants.

The most effective ways:

  1. Inhalations. It is very effective to use ginger for colds and coughs in the form of inhalations. The exceptions are children under 6 years of age and women carrying a baby. To carry out the procedure, add a couple of drops of essential oil to the steam inhaler. Inhale the vapors for several minutes and no more than 7. If there is no special device, then pour boiling water into the bowl, add 2-3 drops of oil and inhale the vapors for up to 10 minutes. You can also purchase an aroma lamp at the pharmacy. Pour a couple of drops of oil into it and use several times a day. This therapy will allow you to recover quickly. It is very important to know that it is prohibited to use ginger essential oil in compression inhalers for coughs and ARVI.

  2. Warming your feet. The plant is characterized by a unique warming property. Therefore, experts recommend using it to warm your feet. To do this, dilute the root powder with water to form the consistency of sour cream. Rub the resulting mixture into wet feet.
  3. Hot baths. Ginger baths against colds are an equally popular and effective method. To carry out the manipulation, take 2-3 large spoons of ginger powder, add hot water and boil for several minutes. Add the resulting slurry to the bath. You are allowed to take a bath for up to a third of an hour and no more. This method is not suitable in case of elevated temperature and the presence of cardiovascular diseases.
  4. Alcohol tincture. To obtain a healing remedy, you will need fresh ginger. Before use, rinse and grate on a very fine grater. Pour 40 grams of grated mass into 100 ml of alcohol. Store the medicine only in a dark place.
  5. Ointment. If the cough is very severe and does not go away at all, then it is possible to improve therapy with the help of ginger ointment. Dilute the spice powder with water until you get a paste-like consistency. Rub this mixture all over your calves. Wear socks on top. A ginger compress is placed between the shoulder blades for 5-10 minutes. This ointment provides a mustard plaster effect. Thanks to this remedy, a decrease in swelling of the respiratory tract is guaranteed. The cough goes away much faster.
  6. Compress with ginger. For a compress, grate the root with a fine grater and heat it a little in a water bath. Afterwards, place it on gauze or thick cotton cloth. Fix the compress on the chest, insulate it with cellophane and something warming. Doctors recommend using a down scarf. Keep the bandage on for half an hour, and if a burning sensation appears, it should be eliminated. Conduct sessions every other day until the patient has completely recovered.

These methods of using ginger root for colds and flu are the most effective. Before therapy, in any case, consult a specialist, since the plant has contraindications.

Today, ginger-honey drink with lemon has become so popular that there are many ways to prepare it in cooking and medicine. But not every recipe can boast of a truly healing effect on the body for colds accompanied by high fever. This can be explained by the disproportionate ratio of components in the resulting infusion, which eliminates the optimal concentration of substances necessary to improve health. The following are only recipes for those substances that can really help your health.

To prepare the drink according to the most popular recipe, you need to grate 1 tsp on a fine grater. ginger, then combine it with 1 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice. The mixture of ginger and spices should be placed in a thermos, put 1-2 medium slices of lemon there and pour boiling water over everything. Is it possible to eat ginger at a fever?

With ARVI, fever often occurs as the body becomes more active in the fight against viruses and bacteria. In this case, doctors recommend drinking plenty of fluids. Due to increased sweating, the body loses a sufficient amount of moisture.

Therefore, patients often wonder how to treat a cold with ginger in case of elevated temperature and whether it is possible to use the plant at all. Ginger begins to help even in the first days of the onset of the disease.

This spice should not be used at too high a temperature (more than 38 degrees). You can’t even drink ginger tea with lemon and honey for a cold. But in some cases it is recommended to use chilled tea. How to brew ginger root for a cold? To lower the temperature you will need:

  1. Grate the ginger root (about 4 cm) on a fine grater.
  2. Mix with a small spoon of tea leaves and pour boiling water.

Doctors still remain of the opinion that it is not recommended to use any products with ginger at elevated temperatures.

Recipes with ginger for colds

The easiest way to use ginger for colds is a recipe for making tea with its content. To do this, you need to take ginger root, which is now sold in almost every grocery store, cut it into small chips or circles, brew them along with regular black or green tea (at the rate of 2 teaspoons of chopped ginger per medium teapot). You can add honey, lemon, and a little red pepper to this tea, which will further enhance its effect. When you have a cold, you should drink at least three glasses of this tea a day in small sips.

Advice and recommendations from doctors

There is no consensus among doctors about the use of ginger for colds, how to brew drinks and make inhalations against viral diseases. Some experts consider the plant to be very effective and are inclined to carry out therapy using infusions, decoctions, and teas with ginger. It is highly recommended to use the product as an additional component in the complex treatment of the disease.

The other half treats ginger with extreme caution. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you contact your doctor individually and get advice. It all depends on the patient’s condition, the severity of the disease, and concomitant pathologies.

Doctors agree on one thing: to improve the condition, you need to drink plenty of fluids. It doesn’t matter if it’s tea with ginger, lemon and honey for colds or a decoction of herbs. The drink should be enjoyed and the patient should drink it without compulsion.

Herbal medicine has a large number of positive aspects, but there are points that can negate all the expected results. Important to remember:

  1. Systematicity. It is forbidden to interrupt the course of treatment on your own as soon as the condition improves. In this case, there will be no expected effect.
  2. Power. The plant is not suitable for all patients. If someone’s illness subsides within a day, then it is not a fact that in another case there will be the same reaction.
  3. Safety. Ginger is very useful, but only when used correctly and in moderation. Be sure to take into account all contraindications.

Before use, you should evaluate the capabilities of the product. Pay attention to the patient’s condition and the severity of the disease. You should not expect complete recovery by using ginger alone. But the product will be very effective as part of a complex treatment.
