How to sprout oats at home for treatment

Already in November, the flow of fresh vegetables and fruits to local markets slowly subsides, and prices for fruit and vegetable products soar.
People begin to make massive raids on pharmacies in search of a magic pill that will return their summer cheerfulness. What a pity that such a miracle remedy has not yet been invented... However, it is not at all necessary to pump your body with chemicals in order to feel like five points even in winter. It’s enough to learn how to germinate oats at home.

I felt the beneficial effects of grain sprouts on my own skin last winter: in addition to a surge of energy, my nails became stronger, and my hair acquired volume and shine.

Sprouted oats are a real godsend for female beauty and well-being.

By the way, I germinate not only oats, but also wheat. Detailed instructions on how to do this can be found here.

Two words about the benefits of sprouted oats

The richness of the mineral and vitamin composition of oat sprouts is simply amazing. With regular consumption of grains with tiny sprouts, the following positive health effects are observed:

  1. Your immune system becomes stronger, so you are less likely to get seasonal colds.
  2. The blood renews itself better, and therefore you feel incredibly cheerful and light.
  3. Fiber, found in abundance in oat grains, cleanses the intestines of waste and toxins and improves your digestion.
  4. The same dietary fiber gives a noticeable boost to your metabolism, that is, by replacing part of your diet with sprouted grains, you also contribute to weight loss.

Step-by-step instructions for sprouting oats

To properly grow oats, follow the sequence of actions :

  • Sort through the grains, remove any darkened ones, rinse under the tap;
  • fold the gauze in several layers and place it on a flat glass or ceramic plate;
  • place the grains on one half of the gauze and cover them with the other;
  • leave the oats in a warm place, out of direct sunlight, for 2 hours;
  • Moisten the fabric periodically;
  • grains will begin to germinate after 6-7 hours;
  • Rinse the sprouted grains with running water and use as intended.

How many oats do you need to germinate at a time?

Grain sprouts are quite a heavy food for the body, especially if your diet was previously low in fiber. Therefore, for the first week, I recommend eating no more than 20 - 30 grams of sprouted oats per day. And given that it can be stored in the refrigerator for no longer than three days, it makes sense to germinate 60–90 grams of grain at a time.

To always have this valuable product on hand, sprout a fresh portion every 2 to 3 days.

As soon as the norm of 20-30 grams becomes familiar to you, you can slowly increase it to 50-70 grams. But it’s still better not to go beyond the 70 gram line, because such an abundance of fiber will put too much strain on the digestive tract.

This drug is prepared on the basis of an alcohol tincture of oat sprouts. To do this, the sprouted grains should be poured with good quality vodka, placed in a dark, cool place and left there for three weeks, shaking occasionally.

According to the recipe, to prepare a general strengthening tincture, you need to mix several alcohol tinctures from ready-made pharmaceutical forms along with one prepared independently using oat sprouts. This should include:

  • 50 ml tinctures of Eleutherococcus and sprouted oats;
  • 20 ml of Chinese lemongrass and motherwort.

You should drink this tincture half an hour before your main meal and wash it down with rosehip decoction.

Preparing oat grain for germination

After you bring the purchased bag of grain from the street, you need to wait a little - the oats should warm up to room temperature (the fact is that sudden changes in temperature can negatively affect its germination).

Then measure out the first portion and sort through the grain: remove darkened and damaged specimens. After rinsing, the oats can be soaked for a few minutes in water with added salt (about one teaspoon per 200 milliliter glass). All floating grains must be removed; they still won’t hatch.

How to properly sprout oats at home

After purchasing oats, it is recommended to let the seeds “get used” to room temperature for a few minutes; this is especially important if you are going to germinate the seeds in winter. Sudden temperature changes can negatively affect germination.

Do not try to germinate a large number of grains at once - the shelf life of such a product is only 3 days in the refrigerator. It's best to prepare grains as you eat them.

The most important elements for oat germination are light, water and temperature. Therefore, prepare a place where the temperature will be around 23 degrees Celsius, there will be no drafts, and there will be no direct sunlight. The most suitable place in apartments is a window sill, but you can independently place the container with seeds in any other suitable place.

There are several available methods for germinating oats:

  1. Rinse a small amount of seeds, about a handful, thoroughly under running water and pour into a clean jar. Fill the cereal with water at room temperature and keep it there for 8 hours (it is not recommended to close the jar with a lid). After the expiration date, rinse the swollen seeds and place them on a saucer covered with a wet piece of cloth, cover the oats with the same damp handkerchief or gauze. In order for sprouted oats to be eaten, another 12-14 hours must pass. After this time, white “tails” of no more than 2 mm appear on the grains - this indicates that the seeds have accumulated the largest amount of useful substances and can be included in your diet.
  2. In order to slightly speed up the seed germination process, you can use the following method. Pour 3 tablespoons of washed oats into a small jar. Fill with water at room temperature (0.5 liters), cover with gauze and secure it with an elastic band or use a lid with frequent and small holes. Let it sit for 8 hours (for example, overnight). In the morning, without opening the jar, pour out the water, add a new one, gently shake the jar, pour it out again. Turn the jar upside down and place it on a device such as a plate or spoon drainer. Carry out this procedure a day for 3-4 times. In the evening, you will notice how the sprouts begin to hatch. Place the seeds in a container and put them in the refrigerator. Remember that you can only eat sprouted oats for 3 days!

Oats sprouted at home can be added to green smoothies, vegetable salads, and also used as a filling for sandwiches (after first grinding in a blender).

Oat sprouts have a powerful healing effect, but, unfortunately, they are not beneficial for everyone. If you suffer from acute gastritis or ulcers, then it is better to refrain from using them. Also, before introducing sprouted oats into your diet, consult your doctor if you have any problems with your kidneys, gall bladder, heart or liver.

Why would you want to germinate something like that?

Tasty and healthy sprouts can be obtained from many grain crops, both familiar to us and quite exotic. Choose according to your taste!

Oat sprouts have a very pleasant milky-nutty taste. They are rich in vitamins E, C, K, as well as important microelements - magnesium, calcium, chromium, iron and silicon.

Oat sprouts are especially useful for weakened immunity and a weakened nervous system. They are an excellent remedy for anemia, remove toxins from the body, alleviate the condition of patients with diabetes and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as those who have suffered a stroke. In order to germinate oats as quickly as possible, choose the “naked” variety.

Bean sprouts have a sweet and slightly spicy taste. They are an excellent source of protein and rich in vitamin C. They help increase the body's resistance during periods of exacerbation of seasonal viral diseases. Useful for pregnant and lactating women. For germination, you can use lentil, maga, and chickpea grains.

Buckwheat sprouts have a light herbal taste and are slightly sweet. Rich in rutin, magnesium, calcium, iron, boron, vitamins B and C. Indicated for any ailments of the vascular system, blood pressure problems, and metabolic disorders. Only unroasted green buckwheat is suitable for sprouting.

Wheat sprouts. You should know how to germinate wheat, because its young shoots will be useful to everyone without exception. Sprouted wheat grains have the most pronounced healing properties. They have a beneficial effect on all organ systems, being a universal strengthening, restorative and healing agent.

Sesame seedlings have an original nutty and bitter taste. Rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and iron, as well as vitamin C. Thanks to the increased calcium content, they help strengthen bone tissue, improve the condition of nails, teeth and hair.

Sprouting oats for pets

My cat is a Cornish Rex. This cat breed has a very original wavy coat.

Once upon a time we had a Cornish Rex cat. A terrible robber. One day I was preparing a salad, went to the bath for a second, came and observed the following picture: this bastard jumped onto the table and chewed parsley leaves with gusto (!).

At first I thought that he lacked vitamins, but then a knowledgeable neighbor suggested that in this way animals clean their stomachs (after all, cats wash themselves with their tongues, as a result of which lumps of hair get into the stomach and clog it).

Since then, I began to sprout oats at home and treat my cat to the green juicy leaves. At first I sowed the grains in the soil, but then I began to grow it completely without soil, using the hydroponic method.

I suggest watching the video to see how this is done.

And finally, I present to your attention a super energizing breakfast option with sprouted oats.
