How to restore bowel function

Hello readers, today's article was written by a nurse friend of mine. We recently talked about this topic, and I asked her to share information, not only with me, but also with you.

Intestinal dysbiosis is a common ailment that quite often occurs against the background of other diseases.

In domestic medicine, this condition is called dysbiosis; Western colleagues called it bacterial overgrowth syndrome.

The disease occurs due to an imbalance of beneficial living bacteria (lacto and bifidobacteria), as well as increased growth of pathogenic microflora (coccal representatives, Klebsiella, Proteus, etc.) living in the intestinal walls.

Symptoms indicating microflora disorders

Scientists to this day cannot come to a consensus regarding the imbalance of microorganisms. Consider it as an independent disease or one of the symptoms of other pathologies.

Dysbacteriosis is manifested by the following symptoms:

  • A bowel disorder manifested as constipation can also be diarrhea.
  • The presence of bad breath.
  • At the height of the disease, pain in the abdomen and dyspeptic disorders are noted.
  • The presence of remnants of undigested food eaten in the stool.
  • Decreased immunity, as a result of which the patient often gets sick.
  • The appearance of apathy, drowsiness, or vice versa - insomnia.
  • Rumbling in the stomach, flatulence caused by fermentation of undigested food residues.

Such manifestations may indicate other intestinal pathologies, against the background of microflora imbalance. As therapy, drugs are prescribed, which include lactobacilli, designed to restore the disturbed microflora.

The disease manifests itself equally in both adults and children. In adults, the microflora has already been formed and its composition has not changed. In children, on the contrary, any errors in nutrition and treatment with various medications can cause an imbalance.

Effective folk remedies

Traditional medicine knows how to improve intestinal function. Her arsenal of remedies contains only natural ingredients, most of them are taken in the form of decoctions, infusions, and tea.

Popular and affordable recipes, in terms of preparation time and raw materials, include the following:

  • Wheat bran. Take steamed or dry, 1 tablespoon in the morning (preferably on an empty stomach).
  • Plantain seeds. Dry raw materials are ground and taken 1 tbsp. spoon 1 to 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals.
  • Herbs to improve intestinal function - fennel, anise, mint, buckthorn bark and chamomile. Make a collection of herbs in equal quantities, pour boiling water over it, infuse and filter. Take warm after meals during the day.
  • Tea from the collection of blueberries and bird cherry fruits. Dry ingredients are taken in equal quantities and brewed with boiling water. Strain the tea and take it throughout the day after each meal.
  • You should end the day by eating soaked prunes (3-4 fruits), you can drink the water in which the fruits were soaked.
  • In the morning it is useful to eat oatmeal with dried fruits and nuts.

Traditional, medicinal and therapeutic methods of normalizing the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract should be used systematically and mutually complement each other. Restoring the intestines takes a long time; sometimes it takes more than one year to rehabilitate.

How to restore intestinal microflora after antibiotics in an adult

To normalize the condition, the first thing to do is to give up addictions, since cigarette smoke has a destructive effect on the mucous membranes of the digestive tract.

Drinking alcoholic beverages after a course of antibiotics is prohibited.

It is necessary to take care of good rest and regularly devote time to physical activity to improve immunity.

Proper diet

By eating on time and in a balanced manner, you can improve your well-being with this pathology. Healthy and high-quality food will normalize your general condition and also speed up your metabolism.

Consumption of fermented milk products

Following a diet helps bring the condition back to normal; fermented milk products are also recommended. These include: kefir, feta cheese, whey, special-purpose kefir “Bifidok”, “biokefir”, “Bifilife”, “Acidophilin”, products of the company “Actimel”.

These products will improve the production of positive bacteria, improve skin color and overall well-being.

Use of enzyme preparations

Enzyme preparations have a positive effect on digestion, thereby accelerating recovery.

Use of probiotics and prebiotics

To normalize the intestinal microflora, food additives for special purposes, produced in tablets, were created. Their composition is related to their effect on the body.

How to improve intestinal microflora using folk remedies at home

Traditional methods of treatment should not be the main methods in the fight against the disease, but rather be an addition to the therapy prescribed by a specialist.

Some recommendations contradict the advice of nutritionists; for this reason, it is important to get advice and choose the most optimal method of treating the disease.

Traditional medicine recipes for restoring intestinal microflora

1. Propolis, honey and kombucha will act as antiseptics.

2. Consumption of herbal preparations based on mint, chamomile, lemon balm, raspberry leaves, black currant, strawberry, eucalyptus and senna leaves.

3. A decoction based on alder cones with the addition of serpentine root.

4. An infusion of chamomile flowers, bird cherry fruits, caraway seeds and blueberry leaves.

5. A mixture of ground sunflower seeds, pumpkin and walnut pieces will help normalize the condition.

6. Garlic tincture using kefir. It can be replaced with sour milk.

7. Freshly brewed compotes of cranberries, raspberries, blueberries and lingonberries.

8. A tincture based on chamomile, calendula and yarrow will help cope with the disease.

9. To eliminate diarrhea, it is necessary to prepare a decoction of pomegranate peels, a decoction of oak bark, and bird cherry berries, which has an astringent effect.

These remedies are the most common in the fight against the disease, but there are other equally effective recipes. Treatment methods must be selected individually for each case.

For some, the remedies will be the most effective, while for others they may not be suitable for one reason or another. Therefore, it is important to use conventional medications.

Folk remedies for stomach

There can be several problems with the stomach - and each disease has its own method of treatment with home remedies. For example, folk remedies for indigestion help block the effects of eating low-quality foods, as well as reduce the manifestations of gastritis and ulcers. Popular folk remedies for gastritis of the stomach are all kinds of herbal decoctions and infusions. They are traditionally taken before meals to relieve pain and have a wound-healing effect. Sea buckthorn oil, a very strong infusion of green tea, and oak bark tincture help well. If you need folk remedies for gastritis of the stomach during pregnancy, then try two types of decoctions - from dried linden flowers or chamomile flowers. The recipe for preparing the product is simple: pour 2 tablespoons into 200 ml of boiling water. The product is infused for 30 minutes, filtered. Drink twice a day before meals.

Products that restore intestinal microflora

It is important to control your diet, eat slowly and slowly, without swallowing food on the go. Also, do not overeat at night, eat fatty, fried, smoked, salty and spicy foods. Try to eat by the hour and avoid alcoholic drinks.

Don’t forget about foods enriched with bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, vegetables and fruits with plant fiber, and eat enough proteins.

It is necessary to eat in fractional portions at a strictly allotted time. To sweeten dishes, you should give preference to natural honey instead of sugar.

Make sure that the following food groups are present in your diet:

  • Porridges from various cereals on water;
  • Fermented milk products;
  • Freshly squeezed juices, vegetable purees;
  • Herbal teas, still mineral water;
  • Low-fat fish and meat dishes;
  • Fresh greens.

The following types of products should be excluded:

  • Garlic, radishes, onions;
  • Hot herbs and spices;
  • Homemade marinades, pickles;
  • Confectionery, homemade baked goods;
  • Mushrooms in any form;
  • Canned and smoked foods;
  • Whole milk products, ice cream;
  • Cooking fats, fatty mayonnaise.

Dishes included in the diet are selected individually, taking into account the course of the disease and intolerance to certain food groups.

Preparations to improve intestinal microflora

You can take all medications after consultation with medical staff.

Enzyme preparations to support immunity

They have a good effect on the entire gastrointestinal tract, accelerating the absorption of food eaten. Thanks to their influence, it is easier for the intestines to replenish the necessary bacteria that normalize the microflora.

These include:

  • Mezim forte;
  • Creon;
  • Pancreatin;
  • Duphalac.

You should not start treatment with these medications right away. It is necessary to find out all the details regarding their use, to know the dosage and effect of the drug on the body.

Probiotics and prebiotics

Nutritional supplements that contain special additives that eliminate bacterial imbalances are designed to rid the body of illness.

They differ from each other in composition and influence.

Probiotics, such as: Enterozermina, Bifiform, Acylact, Linex, maintain the optimal state of the microflora at the desired level;

Prebiotics designed to stimulate the development of own bacteria in the intestines: Stimbifide, Lactusana, Prelax, thanks to plant fibers, are embedded in the intestinal walls and improve its function.

The first group of drugs is prescribed for a long time. It will take about 5-6 months for positive bacteria to form after treatment with antibacterial drugs.

The second is necessary to replenish your own bacteria, increase the number of already existing beneficial microorganisms, accelerating their growth and increasing their number.

Diet to restore intestinal microflora

1. You should limit fatty, fried, smoked and salty foods that are difficult to digest. Create a light diet menu.

2. For conditions such as constipation, food that has a laxative effect is recommended. This is in most cases: bran, cereals, fresh vegetables and fruits, you also need to regularly eat prunes and other dried fruits. Compotes based on them are useful. As well as fermented milk products.

3. It is necessary to cross out from the list: legumes, some fruits, for example, pears and grapes, so as not to provoke the occurrence of flatulence.

4. The following should be present in abundance: boiled cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, baked apples, which have a beneficial effect on the state of the intestinal microflora.

5. It is advisable to cook broths with bones, as they are rich in glutamine. The substance restores liver cells and has a positive effect on the entire body.

General recommendations

Cleansing the intestines is the key to normal well-being, productivity, and health. In addition to diet, it is recommended to perform a number of activities:

  • Drinking a sufficient amount of fluid (calculated by the formula: body weight x 0.03 = individual amount of water. Where 0.03 is 30 ml of fluid per kilogram of body). As physical activity increases, the amount of fluid increases.
  • Replace coffee, tea, carbonated and alcoholic drinks with vitamin infusions and herbal teas.
  • The principle of nutrition is fractional (4-5 times), in small portions.
  • In the morning, on an empty stomach, drink a glass of warm water. Eat food after 30 minutes.
  • For dinner, you can eat several soaked dried fruits - prunes, dried apricots, figs.
  • Fitness classes are necessary two to three times a week. If this is not possible, long walks at an intense pace are encouraged.
  • Mandatory adherence to general hygiene rules - washing hands before eating, after going outside and visiting public places.
  • Before eating, wash fresh vegetables and fruits thoroughly and scald with boiling water (if possible).
  • Massage the abdomen, after waking up in the morning, with light circular movements in a clockwise direction.

These simple methods stimulate the natural cleansing of the intestines, improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, and improve overall well-being.

How to get rid of constipation and improve bowel function

To normalize stool, drug therapy and adherence to a diet for the free passage of stool and its softening are recommended.

It is important to improve bowel function by practicing a healthy lifestyle and normal diet. I highly recommend including prunes in your diet; they are an excellent helper for constipation; you can brew them or eat them on an empty stomach.

For prolonged constipation, it is necessary to cleanse the body, for example, with activated charcoal, and cleanse the intestines.

The diet for difficult bowel movements should be based on the following products:

  • Vegetables and fruits;
  • Fermented milk products that contain animal bifidobacteria;
  • Fresh herbs, onions, garlic.

If affected by the virus, it is worth reducing the consumption of products made from white flour, rice, minimizing meat products, eggs, and reducing the amount of dairy products with a high percentage of fat.

If you neglect your diet, then all efforts made to eliminate constipation and treat intestinal dysbiosis will be in vain. It is important to strictly follow the diet, choose the right foods, and use traditional medicine.

These include fresh prepared infusions, decoctions, and teas that help cope with the problem.

To create healing drinks against constipation, tansy, coltsfoot, senna, chamomile, buckthorn, St. John's wort, mint, plantain and yarrow are used.

Herbs eliminate putrefactive pathology, have a mild laxative effect, accelerating intestinal motility, and have a calming effect on the entire gastrointestinal tract.

If the diet does not bring the desired results, then the following medications are used:

Suppositories and tablets. It is recommended to use ready-made medications in the fight against constipation, which treat dysbacteriosis. They are sold at reasonable prices and are widely available to patients.

Basics of proper nutrition for constipation

Be sure to include food with plant fiber enriched with vitamins and microelements. In this way, it will be possible to prevent possible exhaustion and weakening of the body.

It is allowed to eat non-sour cottage cheese, eggs, cereals based on various cereals, and boiled vegetables. You can afford steamed chicken, in the absence of obvious putrefactive processes.

Keep a record of the fluid you drink per day - at least 1.5 liters of water. Half an hour before meals, drink half a glass of warm water with the addition of a small amount of flower honey. Drinking plenty of fluids during dysbacteriosis helps remove toxins from the body.

You need to eat 5-6 times a day in fractional portions. The diet may include fruit and vegetable purees, salads from vegetables, fresh cabbage, beets and prunes.

Getting your nutrition in order will help cure dysbiosis and speed up the body’s recovery after illnesses caused by disorders of the intestinal microflora.

Biocomplex Fitomucil

You can achieve the desired result if you introduce the natural biocomplex Fitomucil into your daily diet. The composition of the biocomplex includes the shell of the seeds of the flea plantain (Plantago Psуllium) and the fruits of the domestic plum; it does not contain dyes or flavoring additives, but only natural soluble dietary fiber. Once in the intestines, they absorb liquid and turn into a mucous gel, which softens stool and facilitates its painless removal from the body. Without being a medicine, Fitomucil quickly restores the daily emptying of the intestines and normalizes the microflora.

How does Fitomucil work?

Phytomucil has an enveloping effect, which helps improve intestinal function without the use of potent laxatives. The fundamental difference between Fitomucil and traditional laxatives is that it does not contain senna, which means that all unpleasant symptoms (soreness, bloating, sudden urges and painful spasms) are completely excluded.

Three tasks of the drug

When using Fitomucil, several goals are achieved simultaneously. Firstly, regular bowel movements are established, which are not accompanied by any unpleasant symptoms, everything happens easily and naturally. Secondly, the intestinal microflora, damaged during dysbacteriosis, which was caused by constipation and poor nutrition, is normalized. Thirdly, Fitomucil, taken with a glass of kefir, juice or yogurt, causes a satiation effect, avoids overeating, and one way or another helps to lose weight and cleanse the body. Just one packet of Fitomucil allows you to solve several problems “in one glass”! Never before has this joke matched the action so literally.
