How to remove a bruise using folk remedies

Hello, dear friends!

Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to you!

Our winter brings surprises in the form of thaws and, conversely, severe frosts. There is heavy ice on the roads. A month ago, while walking to work in the morning, I fell and slipped and received a severe bruise to my leg. She cured it, of course, mainly with folk remedies, namely the silver bridge.

Now I will tell you in more detail my story of treating bruises with folk remedies, what helped me and what didn’t, and I will also remind you what to do after a bruise, what folk remedies exist for bruises and bruises.

Treatment of a severe leg bruise in an adult with folk remedies

Unfortunately, I didn’t take the first measures after my fall, since I spent the whole day at work, and there wasn’t much pain.

And in the evening I discovered a huge hematoma.

The first product I remembered was food foil. I was just too lazy to make the silver bridge right away. I just put a piece of foil on my leg.

I happened to have Bodyaga ointment at home and started using it. In addition, I tried to make salt compresses and a compress from golden mustache tincture.

But the fact is that a very uncomfortable place was bruised - the upper part of the thigh, on which no bandages would hold, especially since I had to go to work and the leg bruise was very severe.

That’s when I made a silver bridge for 3 days. And oh, miracle! I didn’t even expect that the bruise would disappear so quickly. But since the adhesive plaster still peeled off a little, only in this place, not covered with foil, there was still some blue.

The silver bridge is thin strips (1 cm wide) of foil glued to an adhesive plaster at a distance of approximately 0.5 cm from each other.

You can read more about this method in my article about foil treatment and silver bridges.

After the second procedure, there was no more hematoma at all. So I highly recommend using it when treating a severe bruise.

Now let’s figure out in detail what to do in case of a bruise and how you can treat it with folk remedies.

Essential oil for bruises and contusions

The size of the hematoma and the rate of resorption can be influenced by various factors: the biochemical composition of the blood, the characteristics of the skin (its thickness), race, age and even gender. With age, the body is more susceptible to the formation of bruises on the body, since the elasticity of connective tissue and blood vessels decreases over time, capillaries easily burst - a bruise can appear completely unexpectedly, even with light pressure, and it becomes more difficult to cure them.

Low hemoglobin and poor blood clotting can also often cause a hematoma to appear on the body. The appearance of bruises can also be an indicator of various types of concomitant diseases, such as diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, various hormonal disorders, and vitamin deficiency.

What to do immediately after a blow or bruise

A bruise forms on the skin if small vessels rupture, the blood from them spreads under the skin and thickens. Other names for this phenomenon are “hematoma”, “bruise”. The causes of bruising can be different:

  • a blow to an area of skin, as a result of which small vessels are torn;
  • thinning of the walls of blood vessels due to taking certain medications or due to a number of diseases, as well as in old age;
  • hormonal changes in the body, which is especially important for women.

The most common reason is, of course, bruises, blows, injuries, which often overtake people in everyday life and cause damage to the skin. The resulting bruise not only causes pain, but also spoils the appearance, especially if it is on open areas of the body - on the face, arms or legs.

You can get rid of bruises at home quickly, and for this there are several proven recipes, each of which is used at a certain stage of the appearance of a hematoma.

The mechanism of bruise development

As a result of a mechanical shock, the blood vessels burst and blood flows out from them under the skin. The more serious the injury and the more extensive the bleeding, the more extensive the bruise becomes.

Note. In some cases, hematomas do not appear immediately, but on the second day after injury.

The skin on the face is thinner, so the bruises on it are pronounced, but they also resolve much faster than those that appear under the rough skin of the lower extremities. To speed up the healing process of blood vessels and eliminate the consequences of their rupture, you can use traditional medicine recipes.

The benefits of folk remedies for bruises

A mixture made from horseradish and radish is used several times throughout the day. Before using it, both ingredients must be grated and then applied to the bruise.

Few people know that you can get rid of such a noticeable problem with the help of pineapple. This should not be surprising, because this fruit contains enzymes that accelerate the process of hematoma resorption. The injured area can be wiped with freshly squeezed pineapple juice; you can also take a piece of fruit for this.

Banana peel is a good remedy for bruises, but is rarely used in folk medicine.

The inner side of the fruit peel should be applied to the damaged area and should be held for 30 minutes.

Onions have the same effect as garlic. Before using the onion, you need to chop it and add a little salt to the pulp (a teaspoon is enough). This mixture is perfect as a compress, which should be done at least twice a day.

A compress can be made from beets and honey. To prepare, the beets are grated, and then the juice is squeezed out of the resulting mass. The resulting gruel is mixed with a spoonful of honey. Then the product is placed directly on the bruise and covered with a cotton napkin or gauze.

Everything is secured with a bandage. This compress must be kept for a long time, about 3 hours. Then you need to wash it off. The procedure is repeated every day.

Good results can be achieved by those products that contain vitamin C, since pronounced bruises form precisely in those people who suffer from a deficiency of this vitamin. Therefore, its supply should be replenished.

In order to suffer less from noticeable bruises, you need to not only be careful, but also eat a variety of fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits, green onions and sauerkraut contain especially many essential nutrients.

If a person’s bruises do not go away for a long time, then most likely the problem lies precisely in the fact that his body does not have enough vitamins.

With the help of folk remedies for bruises and bruises, it is possible to positively influence the state of the immune system and the circulatory system, as a result of which blood flow increases, the body's defenses are involved in the fight against subcutaneous hemorrhage, reducing swelling and pain. This way, the bruise goes away much faster.

Despite the abundance of healing ointments and gels presented on the modern market, many people, in the old fashioned way, resort to traditional medicine methods: compresses and lotions. This is not surprising, since the technique has been tested for centuries, and the means are available to everyone.

What to do if you are injured

Let's remember three rules of first aid for bruises.

First rule . It is necessary to provide rest to the damaged organ. Do not move your arm or leg, then the pain will be less. It is recommended to make a bandage and apply a medical elastic bandage.

Second rule . Cold should be applied to the injury site as soon as possible.

It could be ice, snow, cold water, any cold object, even a coin. Copper coins have been used for bruises since ancient times by our grandmothers and great-grandmothers.

For some reason, I often come across an iron at home. Its cold metal sole helped more than once.

If there is a bruise under the eye, you can apply a spoon.

Ice can be scraped off the walls of the refrigerator, you can take out a pack of dumplings or something else from the refrigerator. Another option is to fill a heating pad with cold water.

Cold is used in the first 24 hours after injury. The sooner the better, because cold constricts blood vessels and prevents bruising, stops the growth of edema and prevents secondary damage to soft tissue.

But you also need to use it correctly. In order not to injure the skin, ice should be wrapped in cloth and used only in this form.

You can apply cold for no more than 10-15 minutes to avoid hypothermia and frostbite of the tissues. Then you should take a break of 2-3 hours and apply again.

Rule three . A bruised arm, leg or finger needs to be raised up so that swelling does not increase and blood flows out so that the damaged segment feels better.

Make an iodine net at night, it will have an anti-inflammatory and healing effect, improve blood circulation.

A day after the swelling is removed, the damaged organs already need heat, you can heat regular table salt in a frying pan, then pour it into a linen bag, or just a cotton sock will do, and apply it to the sore spot for 10-15 minutes. Warming up can be done 2-3 times a day.

You can, of course, buy ointment for bruises or at least bodyaga powder.

Bodyaga is perhaps the best remedy for bruises and hematomas; it is produced specifically for these purposes.

If you have bodyaga powder on hand, you need to dilute it with water to obtain a creamy paste and apply it to the bruise as a compress for an hour.

There is also an ointment for bruises and hematomas based on bodyagi. If you use it immediately after an injury, then the appearance of a bruise can be avoided, and if one appears, you can get rid of it quite quickly. The ointment is called “Bodyaga”.

Here is another list of popular ointments:

Ointments for bruises

  • troxevasin - has a resolving effect and strengthens the walls of blood vessels
  • heparin ointment – relieves inflammation, swelling, as well as pain, promotes rapid resorption of the bruise
  • bruise-off - also perfectly helps relieve inflammation and swelling, and also has a masking effect like a foundation
  • Lyoton – prevents the development of inflammation, strengthens vascular walls
  • and this list can also be supplemented by Vishnevsky ointment, “Arnica”, “Rescuer” and others.

Ointments should be applied according to instructions, usually several times a day.

But you still need to go to the pharmacy to get them, and we like to be treated with what we have at home.

So, let’s continue treating bruises with folk remedies.

Herbal lotions

Herbal lotions are a good addition to basic therapy. This treatment of bruises with folk remedies helps eliminate hematoma on the leg and other part of the body and relieve swelling in a short time.

Ledum

To enhance the effect, you can add coltsfoot to wild rosemary. The leaves of the plants are mixed in equal proportions, an infusion is prepared and used for lotions.

The procedure must be performed frequently. The compress must be changed when the product is completely dry.

If it is not possible to apply fresh wormwood, then the bandage can be moistened with water. If there is a severe bruise, it is recommended to apply a thick layer of crushed grass and repeat the procedure after drying. An enhanced effect is observed when honey is added to the mixture. The wormwood compress using a beekeeping product must be replaced with a fresh one after 3 hours.

Mountain arnica

Effective methods for removing hematomas on the face include the use of mountain arnica herb. To prepare the medicinal composition you will need:

  • 100 g of raw materials;
  • 1 liter of vodka.

The ingredients are mixed, poured into a glass container and put in a dark place for 5 days to infuse. After this, the infusion is used for lotions. Gauze is soaked in the medicine and placed for some time on the hematoma. The procedure is carried out 3 times a day. The product helps reduce bruising, eliminate pain, stop the penetration of blood into the tissue and eliminate swelling.

Viburnum and celandine

When hematomas appear in the face and head, it is necessary to choose a safe and effective method. For this you will need 1 tbsp. l. viburnum and 1 tbsp. l. celandine. The ingredients need to be mixed, pour a glass of boiling water and leave to brew. When the liquid has completely cooled, you need to moisten gauze or other clean cloth in it and apply it to the hematoma for a while. If you change the bandage every 2 hours, you can quickly remove the bruise with this folk remedy.

Flax seeds

Treatment with folk remedies includes a recipe using flaxseeds. To eliminate a bruise, you need to grind the seeds, place them in a linen bag, immerse them in boiling water for a while, pull them out and apply the hot product to the damaged area of the skin. The bag should be removed after it has cooled completely. In case of bruises, the steps must be repeated several times. The duration of the procedures is 2 days, 3 compresses per day.

Iodine mesh

With vascular injury, a hematoma often occurs. This process is a normal reaction to a bruise, because at this moment the vessel bursts and a certain amount of blood penetrates into the tissue. The skin becomes red and eventually turns blue. A similar phenomenon occurs from injections when muscle tissue does not have time to recover. In this case, iodine will help get rid of the bruise.

Before applying the mesh, it is recommended to cleanse the skin of impurities. Then, using a cotton swab, apply the product in vertical and horizontal lines, forming a grid, the squares of which should be approximately 1/1 cm in size. This application allows the iodine to be evenly absorbed. The mesh should cover the entire hematoma and extend slightly beyond it. To cure the bruise, the procedure can be carried out at night, then in the morning there will be no trace of it due to the volatile properties of the product.

Badyaga

Badyaga is considered an effective folk remedy for bruises, therefore it is included in many drugs. It is taken in the amount of 2 tbsp. l., mixed with 4 tbsp. l. water; The mixture is applied to the affected area for 15-20 minutes, after which it is completely removed with warm water. Contraindications include individual intolerance.

In addition, the powder is not used for increased hair growth, inflammation, cuts and scratches at the treatment site, as well as hypersensitivity of the skin. For this reason, the product should not be used for a black eye.

Folk remedies for treating bruises

Folk remedies for treating bumps and bruises can be found even in our kitchens, and herbs can be used.

In general, of course, there are many remedies for bruises.

While I was preparing the material and studying what they were writing on the Internet, I even laughed a lot. There are such tips that you need to cook something there for a long time, leave it and simmer it in a Russian oven, and also smear the bruise with viper fat!

I have selected only the most accessible and simple methods of treating bruises with folk remedies, proven and effective.

After all, everyone chooses his own, which he likes from what is at hand, and depending on the situation and location of the injury.

Remedies for bruises and hematomas from our kitchen

Salt

If you are wondering how to treat a bruise, choose regular salt. We already know about salt treatment recipes. This is also the case when a salt compress will help cure almost any bruise. To prepare it, dissolve a tablespoon of salt in a liter of warm boiled water and soak a piece of cotton or linen cloth in this solution. Cover the damp cloth applied to the bruise with polyethylene and wrap it with a warm scarf. Leave this compress on all night.

Potato

Everyone has potatoes at home. A wonderful doctor, simply wonderful! I even devoted a separate article to potato treatment.

We clean it and grate it on a coarse grater. Place the resulting mass on a linen cloth or gauze folded in four and apply to the bruise. We fix it with something - a bandage, a scarf, a handkerchief.

Leave this until the potatoes dry, about 30 minutes. Then we make a new compress. After the third or fourth procedure, the pain will subside significantly.

You can also use potato starch. Dilute it with water until you get a paste and make a compress, covering it with cellophane and securing it with a bandage.

Cabbage for bruises

White cabbage is also suitable, but if you love red cabbage and you have it at home, then this vegetable is three times better, since it contains three times more nutrients than white cabbage.

We tear off a leaf from the cabbage and knead it thoroughly in our hands until the juice releases.

Apply to the sore spot and secure with a bandage.

All such compresses from natural homemade products are applied in the same way: until the mass dries, 2-3 times a day.

Onion

The onion needs to be peeled and finely chopped with a knife or grated on a fine grater, add one teaspoon of salt. Place the pulp in a gauze bag and make compresses. Each time you need to prepare a fresh compress.

Garlic

Compresses for bruises can also be made from chopped garlic.

Horseradish and radish

The bruise will quickly disappear if you make compresses from finely grated horseradish or radish.

Beetroot and honey

Although this is no longer an edible product, it is also in our kitchen, or in the bathroom. Soap is an excellent folk remedy for bruises that will help relieve pain.

It needs to be grated and mixed with egg yolk. Make a compress from this paste. Change every half hour.

You can use soap in another way: rub it on a damp cloth and apply it to the bruise.

Apple vinegar

I use it mainly to rinse my hair. And to treat bruises, dilute 2 teaspoons of vinegar in a liter of water, soak a cloth in it and apply compresses. It is enough to keep it for half an hour. In a few days you will forget about your illness.

Treatment of bruises with medicinal herbs

There are quite a few medicinal herbs that can be used to treat bruises.

Tinctures of calendula and golden mustache

It is most effective to use herbs in the form of compresses from their alcohol tinctures. But there is one nuance here: preparing these tinctures still takes time. But we can’t wait a few days. Therefore, it would be good to always keep at least a tincture of calendula or golden mustache in the house, just in case.

You could make calendula tincture yourself in the summer, but it is also sold in pharmacies. We use it for bruises in the form of compresses or lotions.

And I always have a jar of golden mustache tincture. I advise everyone to grow this plant; we will talk about its beneficial properties later.

Dry herb infusions

Fortunately, not only tinctures, but also decoctions of dried herbs can be used for bruises. It can be coltsfoot, chamomile, celandine. It will be better if you mix them together. Pour a teaspoon of herbs into half a glass of boiling water, boil for 10 minutes in a water bath, leave and cool for an hour, then strain and use for lotions.

Fresh plant leaves

In summer you can pick a leaf of plantain, or burdock, or wormwood. Finely chop the leaf, squeeze out the juice and apply to the sore spot just like a cabbage compress.

You can simply wipe the bruise with the juice of these plants.

At home, you can use ficus or aloe leaves, which also have absorbent and healing properties. Juice from a ficus leaf is applied to the bruise for 1 minute using a cotton swab, and a cut piece of aloe leaf is secured to a small bruise with an adhesive plaster.

All these described folk remedies help with bruises of the arms and legs, as well as other parts of the body.

We figured out how to treat bruises with one remedy or another. I will briefly dwell on some individual points and features.
