How to remove warts on your feet yourself using medical and folk remedies

Before steaming a wart, you need to understand how such new growths appear on the surface of the skin. The growth makes itself felt only if a virus enters the human body and the immune defense is reduced. The infection provokes the proliferation of the papillary layer of the epidermis.

Neoplasms can occur on any part of the patient's body. The greatest discomfort is caused by warts that appear on the surface of the hands, face and feet.

To this day, many patients prefer treatment with folk remedies to drug removal of warts. To get rid of skin growths, you can thoroughly steam the wart. This can be done in several ways.

Causes and symptoms of the disease

Papillomavirus is a common infection transmitted through household contact. It can easily become infected in the absence of careful hygiene, as well as in swimming pools, saunas and other public places with high humidity.

The infection enters the body through the slightest damage and lies dormant for a long time. The active phase is provoked by unfavorable factors:

  • decreased immunity,
  • hypothermia,
  • lack of vitamins,
  • chronic diseases,
  • flat feet,
  • prolonged stress,
  • frequent colds.

At the initial stage, a wart on the leg rarely causes discomfort. Sometimes the growth disappears on its own if a person is closely involved in improving immunity. But this rarely happens. Usually the neoplasm is injured, covered with keratinized layers of skin and hurts during physical activity.

To find out exactly the nature of the growths on the foot, you should go to the hospital and undergo an examination. The specialist will scrape off the upper stratum corneum and send it for analysis. Treatment is prescribed based on the clinical picture of the patient.

Many people are in no hurry to see a doctor, preferring to deal with defects on their own. It is easier to get rid of plantar warts at home when they first appear. Old papillomas have a deeper root and are more difficult to remove without professional intervention.

The benefits of baking soda against warts

In the photo, soda for warts

Baking soda is a popular folk remedy used to treat various ailments at home. It has many useful properties, but when using soda against warts, its action is especially important:

  • Drying . This is the main effect due to which the destruction of the growth tissue becomes real. Soda seems to dry out the formation, and it simply falls off the healthy skin.
  • Anti-inflammatory . A wart is not so much an external defect as an internal problem. It appears on the body as a sign of activation of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which in turn is activated when the body’s immune forces decrease. That is why when using soda for warts, it is important not only to treat skin growths, but also to solve the problem from the inside.
  • Antiseptic . Thanks to this effect, it is possible to prevent the spread of warts, that is, the appearance of new growths next to the first one that appeared. Baking soda increases the local immunity of the skin and stops the spread of the virus on its surface. Additionally, as an antiseptic, baking soda reduces the likelihood of a wart becoming inflamed if it is located in an awkward location and is constantly subject to friction or pressure.

Soda against warts is universal: it is used both externally and internally. However, in the latter case, you need to act very carefully and be sure to clarify contraindications.

Treatment with salicylic acid and iodine

There are many reliable recipes for eliminating growths at home. A bottle of salicylic acid is easy to purchase at any pharmacy. The product has a drying property, disinfects well and relieves inflammation.

To remove a plantar wart, a 5-10% solution of the substance is used. Before the procedure, it is advisable to steam your feet in a bath with the addition of soda or laundry soap. Hot water softens the stratum corneum and opens the pores for better penetration of the medicine.

  1. It is better to carry out the treatment before bedtime.
  2. Dry your feet with a towel and apply acid to the entire surface of the wart, without touching healthy skin.
  3. Cover the top with a bandage folded in several layers and secure the bandage.
  4. In the morning, remove, wash your foot and apply cream.
  5. Treatment must be repeated daily until the defect disappears. Sometimes this takes 1-2 months.

You can use the Salipod patch. It contains sulfur and salicylic acid. Thanks to this, it provides an antiseptic effect and is successfully used to eliminate various skin formations.

To cure a wart, apply the patch to dry, clean skin and leave it on for 2 days. Then the feet are steamed and the softened growth is treated with pumice. It is important to remove only the dead layer and act carefully to prevent damage to the skin. To completely eliminate a plantar wart, you will need to apply the patch several times.

You can fight warts on the feet with iodine. The substance destroys pathogenic microorganisms, cauterizes papillomas, causes them to dry out and decrease in size. The treatment must be done pointwise, avoiding any contact of the antiseptic on healthy areas. The product is applied to the formation 5 times a day. The course of treatment is about a week.

How to remove a wart on the leg using affordable pharmaceutical products

If you don’t want to use folk remedies, but also don’t want to spend a lot of money, treatment is carried out with medicines from the cheap segment.

Salicylic acid

To remove the tumor, you can use pharmaceutical preparations with salicylic acid:

  • salicylic ointment (60%);
  • solutions of different concentrations (10-60%);
  • salicylic patches.

Any product is applied after a warm shower so that the skin of the feet is steamed. Leave overnight and use daily. After 2-4 weeks, the neoplasm should become soft and loose. It will either fall off on its own, or it can be wiped off with a pumice stone.

Collomak

Collomak is a solution for external use, the cost of a bottle (10 ml) is about 300 rubles. It cauterizes and dehydrates the neoplasm, which, under the influence of Collomak, dries out and falls off or is wiped off with pumice.

To remove a wart at home with Collomac, you need to:

  1. Steam your foot.
  2. Rub off or cut off any dry skin that has built up.
  3. Lubricate the skin around the tumor with baby cream (to protect from burns).
  4. Apply 1 drop onto dead skin 2 times a day daily.

The main advantage: the product takes effect in about 4-7 days, while traditional recipes give effect in an average of 2-3 weeks.

Cryopharma

Cryopharma is an aerosol for external use, a 35 ml package costs about 850-900 rubles. The neoplasm is not cauterized, but rather frozen.

To get rid of a wart on the foot, an aerosol is sprayed onto the growth. After exposure, it should either fall off on its own or be easily wiped off with a pumice stone. If there was no effect the first time, you can repeat the procedure after 2 weeks.

Antiviral and antiseptic ointments

You can also fight warts with ointments. Suitable:

  • Viferon;
  • Oxolinic;
  • Ryodokoslovaya;
  • Panavir;
  • Vishnevsky;
  • Malavit;
  • Sulfuric;
  • Zinc.

They are used in approximately the same way: dead skin is smeared several times a day, every day, unless the instructions indicate otherwise or the doctor prescribes a certain frequency of use.

Hydrogen peroxide

Exposure to peroxide destroys the virus, after which the wart can be easily removed with a pumice stone.

For treatment, moisten a cotton swab with undiluted liquid and wipe the wart. Repeat 3-5 times a day every day.

Iodine and alcohol

The simplest method is to cauterize the wart with iodine or alcohol. If you take pure alcohol, it is recommended to dilute it with water in a ratio of 1 to 1 or 2. Instead, you can use regular vodka.

You just need to lubricate the wart with iodine or alcohol. These substances greatly dry the skin and neutralize any microbes. They need to be applied 2-4 times a day with a cotton swab and allowed to dry.

How to remove a wart on the sole of the foot using potent pharmaceutical drugs

If you immediately want to use the most effective methods, or if other methods have not yielded results, you can use potent drugs. Their active ingredients (acids, phenol) can remove the tumor within 3-7 days on average. Under the influence of such drugs, the overgrown tissue dies and either falls off on its own or is rubbed off with a pumice stone. First you need to protect the healthy skin on the leg around the growth with a thick cream, Vaseline or a patch. Such medications are not used to remove warts on children’s feet.

One of the most important rules for treating warts is strengthening the immune system!

These are the means:

  • Solcoderm;
  • Verrucacid;
  • Super clean.

Plasters

Salipod, Urgokor and Mozolin are patches also designed to remove warts, as well as corns and calluses.

They are glued to the neoplasm on the leg after steaming the skin and kept for the time specified in the instructions.

Celandine for warts

You can remove plantar warts at home with celandine. Fresh plant juice has antiviral, wound-healing properties and quickly cleanses the skin of tumors.

It is useful to use fresh juice. First, the foot must be steamed, dried and the skin around the growth should be lubricated with Vaseline. The orange substance is poisonous and causes tissue burns. Rub the wart with a fresh cut of the plant 2 times a day until the papilloma comes out of the bed along with the root.

In addition to pure juice, you can use celandine-based products.

  1. The alcohol tincture remains effective for at least 12 months. To prepare, you need to collect the stems and roots during flowering, wash, dry and finely chop. Fill a glass jar with raw materials and add vodka. Close the lid and hide in the pantry for 2 weeks, remembering to shake the container periodically. Then the medicine must be filtered, poured into a dark bottle and used to treat skin defects.
  2. Compresses will help remove warts on the feet. You need to moisten the bandage in the tincture, roll it several times and apply it to the skin. Place a dry cloth on top and tie. After 20 minutes, remove and soften the feet with a nourishing cream. To enhance the effectiveness of treatment, you need to cauterize the warts with celandine tincture 3-4 times a day, applying the product pointwise.
  3. Propolis tincture mixed with celandine juice provides good results. Freshly squeezed juice should be combined with pharmaceutical propolis tincture 1:5, shaken, left for 2-3 days and used for compresses in the morning and evening. The minimum course of therapy is a week.
  4. Heel warts can be treated with celandine ointment. Take 4 parts of juice and mix with 1 part of Vaseline. Place in a plastic jar with a lid and apply to the affected area twice a day.
  5. If it was not possible to prepare celandine on time, you can purchase a medicine based on its juice at the pharmacy. Mountain celandine quickly eliminates warts on the feet, but it must be used carefully. The chemical composition of the drug causes severe burns to healthy skin. To avoid it, you need to cover the area around the wart with an adhesive plaster and apply no more than 2 drops of the product directly to the growth. The treatment must be repeated 2 times a day until the wart falls off.

How to cure a wart on the leg: effective folk recipes

Before you begin treatment of tumors on the foot, you need to understand for sure that it is a wart. These are dense, hard areas of skin that differ:

  • color: dirty gray, dirty white or yellowish;
  • shape: round or oval;
  • ranging in size from a few millimeters to 1-2 cm in diameter (less commonly, they can increase to a larger size);
  • location: most often occur in places that rub (heels, big toe, little toe);
  • peeling of the skin, which can be easily peeled off with a pumice stone or cut with scissors;
  • absence of skin pattern (no skin lines).

If the neoplasm on the leg is not treated, black dots (dense dead capillaries) may appear in the center and grow to the sides. Over time, the growth may appear more prominently above the surface, causing more discomfort.

Before using any product, it is recommended to show the tumor to a dermatologist. An inexperienced person may confuse a wart with a malignant tumor, molluscum contagiosum, or some other dermatological diseases. In such cases, self-medication can be harmful.

If you are sure that it is a wart, you can try folk remedies to treat it.

Vinegar and other acids

If you are interested in how to get rid of plantar warts on your feet without pharmaceutical drugs or surgery, you can use vinegar. Any acetic acid (malic, table) will do, diluted with water to a concentration of 3-9%. If you use 70% vinegar, it needs to be diluted in a ratio of 1:9-1:10.

The solution should be applied to the wart several times a day, covering with a cotton pad and sealing with a band-aid. This bandage should be kept for 2-3 hours or left overnight.

Any type of vinegar - table, apple, alcohol - shows good results in the treatment of human papillomavirus infection.

Before applying the solution to the wart, be sure to protect the healthy skin of the leg around it, otherwise the vinegar will leave a burn. To do this, you need to take a thick adhesive plaster, cut a hole (so that only the wart “peeks out”), and stick it around the growth. Healthy skin will remain under the patch, and vinegar will be applied only to the growth.

When using, you may feel a burning sensation and tolerable pain - this is normal, since there are still living cells in the growth.

Potato

Raw potatoes will help with warts on the leg. It contains solanine and several organic acids (malic, citric, succinic). These substances cauterize and dry out the tumor.

Incredible, but true, because a lot of people talk about the high effectiveness of this method.

To use, you need to make a compress from a thin slab of potato or from a grated small potato. Such compresses can be done once a day (20-30 minutes) for 14-28 days.

Aloe and Kalanchoe

If you don’t know how to treat warts inexpensively, but you have aloe or kalanchoe at home, here’s the answer. Their juice contains substances that have an antiseptic and healing effect.

Treatment of warts with aloe juice has long been very popular, since this plant has a number of beneficial properties, both for the skin and for the body as a whole.

For treatment, you need to cut a leaf, apply it with the cut to the wart (so that the juice gets on it) and wrap it around your leg with a bandage or adhesive plaster. As the sheet dries, it must be replaced with a new one. You can use the leaves 2-4 times a day, and repeat the procedure daily for 2-3 weeks.

Salt and soda

Treatment at home is often carried out using salt and soda.

When salt is applied to the affected area to get rid of papillomas, the skin formations dry out. The minerals contained in salt tend to draw moisture into themselves without affecting healthy areas.

Salt or soda is mixed in equal proportions with castor oil (to form a thick paste) and a compress is made on the wart. The dressing should be left overnight and applied daily for 2-4 weeks.

Celandine

To remove a wart, you can take fresh celandine. For treatment, you need to make an incision at the root and apply the juice to the wart. You need to use this method 3-4 times a day. At first, the wart may turn slightly black, and then completely resolve. Instead of a fresh plant, you can purchase a pharmaceutical extract.

The poison secreted by celandine is capable of destroying even cancer cells, as evidenced by its numerous studies with the aim of creating a cure for cancer.

Celandine is a poisonous plant. After using it, a wound or burn may remain on the skin. It is recommended to use it no longer than 2-3 weeks and very carefully so as not to apply the substance to healthy skin.

Ash

A wart on the sole of the foot can dry out and fall off if you make compresses from ash every night at night.

Some people use ash to remove warts.

To do this, you need to scrape the sulfur from 10-20 matches, burn it and mix it with a small amount of water until it becomes a thick paste. The recipe is safe and does not harm the skin.

Recipes with honey

There are a lot of folk recipes using honey.

The duration of treatment of warts with honey is at least one month.

Here are the simplest ones:

  1. Honey (real, thick, sugary, not very liquid) is applied to the affected area and wrapped with a bandage. You need to leave the compress on every night.
  2. Honey, garlic and white lily juice are mixed in equal proportions. The result should be an ointment of uniform consistency, which should be smeared onto the wart several times a day.
  3. Mix walnut kernels and honey, ground into fine crumbs, in equal proportions. The mixture is applied under a compress every night.

Egg

A chicken egg can remove warts on the feet.

A chicken egg even helps get rid of numerous papillomas.

Recipes:

  1. The shells of 2 raw eggs are baked in the oven for 30 minutes at a temperature of 200-250°C. It is then ground to a powder using a blender, coffee grinder or mortar. The powder is placed on the wart and tightly fixed with cotton wool and a bandage or adhesive tape. Leave it overnight every day.
  2. The white of a raw egg can be used to lubricate fresh small warts. In order not to transfer products, you can break the egg into a cup, and use the remaining protein from the walls of the shell for treatment.

Onion and garlic

Onions or garlic will help get rid of warts at home.

Since the appearance of warts is directly related to reduced immunity, the use of onions or garlic is completely justified. In addition to the fact that these vegetable crops have a strong anti-inflammatory effect, they are excellent immunostimulants.

They can either be ground into a paste and used for compresses, or you can make a mixture by adding vinegar (1 serving of vinegar to 2 servings of garlic paste). Compresses from such compositions should be made at night for 3-4 weeks.

Propolis

To treat warts on the big toe, it is convenient to use propolis.

Using bee glue tincture is reminiscent of cauterizing the skin: it dries and then separates from the body.

Methods:

  1. Lubricate the tumor with propolis tincture several times a day.
  2. Prepare an ointment from propolis tincture and pork fat (280-350 g of fat per 100 g of propolis). Pre-melt the fat in a water bath. Apply to the wart several times a day every day.

Essential oils of plants

The most commonly used oil is tea tree oil.

This is one of the simple, affordable remedies that helps get rid of growth in most cases.

If you use a pharmacy tincture, you need to dilute it with aloe juice, castor oil or water in a 1:1 ratio (for the first time, you can take even less tea tree oil). The composition should be dripped onto the growth and allowed to dry on the skin. Use daily, best in the evenings, after a shower.

Laundry and tar soap

For those who do not know how to deal with warts on their feet cheaply and effectively, tar or laundry soap is suitable. You can wash your steamed foot with soap every day, and then rub the wart with a pumice stone. If it is dry, this method will quickly reduce it.

To create a specific aroma, a variety of components (flavoring agents) are added to the soap composition. You should pay attention to them; you need to choose soap for treatment without aromatic additives!

If the formation is large and cannot be reduced with pumice or appears again, you can rub 1-2 tbsp. l. shavings from a soap bar, soak the shavings in water until the mixture is not too liquid and make compresses from it overnight.

Tar and laundry soap dry out the skin greatly. In order not to harm healthy areas of the skin of the legs, after such treatment it is recommended to lubricate them with baby cream. If the skin of the legs does not dry out, the cream can be used not daily, but 1-3 times a week.

Garlic

Treatment of warts on the foot at home can be done using garlic. The vegetable is filled with phytoncides, which reduce the activity of the virus, dry out growths and permanently relieve relapses of the disease.

  1. The easiest way is to use applications on a sore spot. A peeled clove of garlic should be cut into slices and one should be applied to the wart. Cover the top with a bandage, secure the bandage and do not remove it for 2-3 hours.
  2. To make the procedure more effective, it is recommended to soak peeled garlic overnight in apple cider vinegar. Take it out in the morning, cut it and make an applique.
  3. It is easy to remove plantar warts with a garlic tortilla . This is a proven folk remedy. You need to chop 2 cloves, add 1 teaspoon of rye flour to them and mix thoroughly. You should get a thick dough-like mass. You need to form a cake out of it and attach it to the wart. After 8 hours, remove the compress, wash the skin and put on socks. If you use the lozenge daily, after 2-3 weeks the growth will no longer cause discomfort.
  4. Natural honey is useful for treating growths on the feet. It should be mixed with garlic juice in a ratio of 1:3 and lubricate the affected areas of the skin with the healing liquid before going to bed.
  5. An old folk recipe provides quick removal of warts. You should bake a head of garlic in the oven. Peel off the husks and mash with a fork. Combine with the same amount of soft butter and beat. Thickly coat the bandage with garlic ointment and apply to the skin overnight. After a week, the wart will turn black and fall off.

Causes and danger of warts on the sole

Warts on the feet of the extremities are the main symptom of infection with the human papillomavirus. New growths look like flat papules, inside of which dark dots can be seen. While walking, pain and itching may occur, which indicate the onset of inflammation. Infection can lead to complications. Despite the benign nature of most growths, in some cases there is a risk of cells degenerating into cancer.

Causes of plantar warts in adults and children:

  • decreased immunity due to past illnesses and stress;
  • violation of rest regime, unhealthy diet;
  • bad habits;
  • failure to comply with personal hygiene rules;
  • using other people's personal hygiene items.

If symptoms appear, consult a dermatologist. An increase in growth in size indicates the active development of the virus and requires immediate examination. A biopsy and a number of other tests will help determine the benign quality of the formation.

Using Vinegar

It is allowed to treat warts on the soles of the feet with table and apple cider vinegar. It burns out tumors from the inside and quickly cleanses the skin.

  1. You need to mix half a teaspoon of vinegar with a pinch of flour and shape the dough into a flat cake. Cover the wart with a plaster, leaving a small hole for growth. Cover the papilloma with dough and bandage it. Remove after 12 hours. Usually, after several procedures, the skin defect disappears.
  2. Small warts can be cauterized with vinegar twice a day for 2 weeks. It is better to apply applications to large formations. Feet should be washed with soap, dried and lubricated with Vaseline. Soak a cotton swab in vinegar and cover the growth. Fix with a plaster for 6-12 hours, then remove and clean the skin with water. During treatment, a burning sensation may be felt, which is normal. If the discomfort is very severe, it is better to remove the bandage before the specified time to prevent burns.
  3. Fresh onions will help cleanse the skin of new growths. You need to cut the peeled vegetable into slices, add apple cider vinegar and leave overnight. In the morning, take out 1 plate, place it on the plantar wart and secure it with a band-aid. Apply the bandage 2 times a day for 2-3 hours.

How to get rid of warts on the leg in other ways

In addition to folk recipes and pharmaceutical drugs, there are other effective means of combating neoplasms.

Dry ice

You can remove a wart by simply pressing a piece of dry ice onto it. You need to hold it for as long as you can tolerate - this method is not painless. You also need to be careful not to damage the healthy skin of the leg around the tumor.

The method does not work the first time - it will need to be repeated 3-5 times a day, every 2-3 hours.

Propolis and cornflower seeds

  1. Small painful formations can be treated with propolis. You need to measure out a pea-sized piece of raw material, chew it and attach it to the papilloma. Cover with adhesive tape and do not remove the application for several days. Clean the skin with pumice, wash and apply a new portion of propolis. After 4-5 procedures, the growth disappears.
  2. Traditional medicine suggests removing tumors with cornflower seeds. A large spoonful of seeds should be crushed into powder, the affected area should be sprinkled with medicine, covered with gauze and bandaged. The product should be applied to steamed skin and not removed for 12 hours. The course of therapy is 2-3 weeks.
  3. Good results can be achieved by mixing cornflower seed powder with the same amount of butter or melted lard. The resulting ointment should be used for compresses on warts once a day before bedtime.

No. 1. Cut the onions into small pieces and add the essence. Leave for several hours. Apply the thick mixture to the growth, cover with a plaster or secure with a bandage. Repeat the procedure every night on steamed skin. The foot should not touch the floor so that the burning mixture does not damage healthy tissue.

No. 2. Grind the horseradish leaves. Apply the resulting paste to the affected area and cover with a cellophane bag or cling film. Do the described manipulations before going to bed until the wart completely disappears.

No. 3. Pour 1 glass of dry thyme with two liters of boiling water and leave to steam for a couple of hours. Add the strained infusion when heated to a container for baths. The sole should remain in the medicine for approximately 1 hour. The duration of treatment is 5-6 procedures at intervals of 1 day.

The methods will work if the treatment is carried out regularly. Natural ingredients take a long time to use, but they are painless.

Conspiracies

Some people tend to believe in magic, and to treat plantar warts they prefer spells to pharmaceutical drugs. The choice depends on the person.

The given conspiracies are not a scientifically based method of therapy. They give effect only in combination with other methods.

A conspiracy on a thread. You will need a red woolen thread, 20-30 cm long. When the moon is in the waxing phase, you need to go outside and looking at the month, say: “The moon is growing, calling with it, take away the warts for good.”

On an apple. The green fruit is cut into 2 parts, the middle is applied to the growth, saying: “Help the apple, take away the wart. When the fruit withers, the skin will become clear!” Afterwards, the fruit is placed on a plate and waited until it dries. Next, the apple is buried in the ground.

On wood and water. The water is infused for 11 days. During the waning month, near a birch tree, take liquid and wash the affected area of skin with it. Sentence: “Water washes dirty skin, makes it clean, warts go away, they will flow into the ground from me forever.” You need to speak 9 times until the water runs out.

Garlic based products

Garlic has antiviral activity, irritates the skin, causing mild inflammation, thereby activating local immunity. Since warts are viral tumors, removing them with garlic-based products is considered one of the most effective medicines.

But before you start treatment with any folk remedy, first do an allergy test - apply a drop of medicine to the inside of your wrist, wait 20 minutes and rinse. The appearance of such unpleasant symptoms as itching, severe burning, or rash is a contraindication to the use of the product.

  1. Cut the garlic clove, pierce the cut in several places with a toothpick (the juice should come out), and thus treat the wart 3-5 times a day - this method is the easiest to use.

  2. This recipe is best used for night compresses. You need to mix garlic and honey passed through a press in equal proportions. Leave the medicine to infuse for two days. Before application, the product is slightly heated, the affected area is treated with it, and polyethylene and a bandage are applied.
  3. Peel and then pass 1 head of garlic through a press, pour vodka into the resulting pulp until it barely covers the top and let it sit in the refrigerator for two days. Then the product is filtered out, and the liquid is used for night compresses. Use the medicine daily. After the 10th procedure, the wart usually dries out.
  4. Cut the garlic cloves into slices, pour vinegar over them, cover with a lid and leave for 14 days in a dark place. Before going to bed, place 1 garlic clove on the steamed wart and secure with a bandage. The liquid can be used to wipe off build-up.

Important!

Try to treat only the surface of the wart with garlic; on healthy skin it can cause irritation, redness, and peeling.
