Tincture of celandine in vodka, recipe and application

Extracts from plants are characterized by a high concentration of healing substances. Dissolving in alcohol, they quickly penetrate the cells and tissues of organs, providing a therapeutic effect.

The tincture of celandine is effective in its effects. Being an extract from a poisonous plant, it requires strict adherence to the dosage during treatment.

The flowering plant celandine (Chelidonium) in Rus' is also called warthog. For its ability to remove warts.

Homemade recipes using vodka and alcohol

To prepare a medicinal warthog tincture, the entire plant is cut off, using leaves, flowers, stems and even roots.

Popular wisdom says that the greatest healing power lies in the plant during the first flowering period, which occurs at the end of spring and beginning of summer. At this time, the plant is filled with the power of healing juices and the concentration of medicinal substances is noted in the above-ground part of the grass.

How to collect grass and prepare raw materials

Extracting medicinal substances from herbs is done at home in different ways. The grass is collected on a sunny day, as soon as the dew has disappeared. It is washed, slightly dried and used for tincture, choosing the required recipe (description below).

If it is necessary to prepare dried grass, then it is laid out in the sun for 10 days, regularly turned over and turned to prevent rot and mold from appearing.

Tincture of celandine with vodka recipe and application

The drug is prepared from both fresh and dried raw materials. The drug can be prepared using the following types of recipes:

Recipe #1 from fresh herbs. The plant is cut along with the stems and flowers. Cut it smaller (up to 1 cm), put it in a glass container so that there is free space in it (about 2 cm does not reach the neck of the bottle).

And vodka is poured to the top so that all the raw materials are covered. Keep for about three weeks in a dark place. After pressing the raw materials and filtering the tincture, vodka is added to it, 1/2 of the resulting volume of the finished drug.

Recipe No. 2 from fresh flowers and leaves. For the second recipe, only flowers and leaves are collected. Fresh raw materials are ground in a mortar to a pasty state. In a ratio of one (gruel) to two, pour vodka into the mixture. Insist in the same way, then filter.

Be careful! The tincture prepared according to the first recipe contains cytotoxic substances and can irritate the mucous membranes of the digestive organs.

The longer the tincture is aged, the higher its concentration. In folk medicine there are recommendations that speak of an infusion period of 5-6 months.

Recipe No. 3 from dry raw materials. The crushed raw materials are placed in a jar, poured with vodka, covering the raw materials by 2 cm. Cover the jar with a cotton cloth, leave for two weeks in a cold place. The tincture is filtered. The marc is reused by pouring 100 g of marc with 300 ml of vodka. The infusion period is increased to a month.

Tincture of celandine with alcohol

No. 4 from dried herbs with honey. The dried raw materials are crushed, placed in glass containers, and filled with alcohol so that the raw materials are completely hidden by the liquid. To enhance the medicinal properties, add honey, one tablespoon of honey per 300 ml jar. Infuse the extract for about a month, stirring the contents periodically.

No. 5. How to make a tincture from juice. The collected grass is washed, dried, ground in a meat grinder, and the juice is squeezed out.
You can squeeze the juice through a juicer. The resulting mixture is kept in the refrigerator for up to three days. Filter, mix with alcohol or vodka in the ratio (2 parts juice to 1 part vodka). The extract is kept in a dark place for up to two weeks.

How to cook

There are quite a few recipes for making tinctures. But the method does not in any way affect the quality and beneficial properties of the medicine. Vodka and celandine - this combination provides an effective remedy for many diseases.

By the way! You can find out what beneficial properties celandine has in our article.

Tincture of celandine with vodka - recipe:

  1. Take 130 g of grass (dry or fresh). To enhance the effectiveness of the medicine, the raw materials can be ground into powder.
  2. Pour into a half-liter dark glass container.
  3. Add vodka (alcohol diluted with water) to the brim.

How to infuse celandine in vodka? For 14 days, the medicine must be shaken once a day for at least two minutes.

Recipe 2

Wash and dry the celandine well along with the roots. Grind the herb in a blender or meat grinder. Squeeze out the juice and mix in equal proportions with vodka. Place the tincture in the refrigerator for 10 days.

When preparing the tincture, all precautions must be taken. You should only touch the grass with gloves. Wash all utensils that were used during cooking with baking soda.

You cannot use pure alcohol to prepare the medicine - this will lead to the complete destruction of the beneficial substances of the celandine. Alcohol must be mixed with water in equal proportions.

Important! Making celandine tincture requires a little experience and knowledge of preparing raw materials. You need to collect raw materials for the tincture in the right places - away from the city, highways, and large industrial enterprises.

As you can see, preparing a tincture is a fairly simple task; the main thing is to follow all the proportions and follow the recommendations.

Application of tincture

Before treatment, you should consult a doctor. At home, test the drug for an allergic reaction by applying a few drops to the elbow. If after a day there are no unpleasant sensations (itching, redness, burning), then you can start using it.

Treatment involves wiping problem areas with cotton pads soaked in an extract or compresses.

For joint pain and inflammation, apply compresses. The medicine is slightly heated in a water bath, the fabric is soaked in it and the wraps are made for 15-20 minutes.

Such compresses are used to relieve toothache. After soaking the cotton wool with vodka extract, apply it to the gum.

Important! Use the tincture with caution. Failure to follow the instructions for use may result in thermal burns.

Treatment of cancer

The antitumor activity of celandine has been studied repeatedly, but this treatment method has not received widespread use. Currently, much less attention is paid to the medicinal plant than half a century ago. The reason for this is the widespread dissemination of information about unsuccessful experiments, which convinced the scientific world of the futility of research. However, A. Potopalsky cites data from successful studies, which can become the basis for new clinical trials.

At the end of the nineteenth century, treatment of cancer with celandine tincture was carried out everywhere. A number of doctors announced an improvement in the condition of patients with cancer of the mammary glands, uterus, and vagina.

Medicines based on celandine extract turned out to be the most effective against skin cancer of various locations. Cases of complete recovery have been recorded even in advanced stages with multiple metastases.

Researchers associated the effectiveness of therapy with the activity of the alkaloids chelidonine, sanguinarine and berberine. Their action was studied quite fully at the end of the 19th century in the wake of general medical interest in the antitumor activity of celandine. However, during the same period, information began to be received about the inconsistent action of the medicinal extract.

Some scientists associate them with the low quality of celandine medicinal preparations, which began to be produced by pharmacological production. Others have abandoned research entirely. For almost fifty years, the practice of using celandine was abandoned and forgotten. And only in the middle of the twentieth century was it resumed by Ukrainian scientists who collected information about the clinical use of the drug in medicine of different nations and in Soviet Russia. In the mid-50s, the plant was included in the State Pharmacopoeia of the USSR.

Activity against malignant neoplasms has been studied in animals. Soviet scientist K.P. Balitsky conducted a series of experiments on rats with artificially induced sarcoma and carcinoma. Celandine extract administered subcutaneously caused inhibition of tumor development. In some cases, already on the fifth day of treatment, the tumor resolved completely.

Antitumor activity was also confirmed by WHO studies, the results of which were published in the 2010 Monograph. The test was carried out on rats with tumors in the stomach. The introduction of celandine extract reduced the severity of the tumor, which was recorded at a laboratory autopsy.

When using water and alcohol infusions, no toxic effect of the drug was recorded.

Royal technique

At home, treatment is carried out according to the “royal method”. It involves gradually increasing the dosage. “It’s difficult to give specific recommendations on dosage,” says herbalist Andrei Varennikov. “After all, some people only need treatment for a newly discovered disease, while for others, the tincture becomes their last hope.”

You should start with generally recommended doses, guided by one of the variants of the “royal method”.

  • Standard course. Start taking five drops, increasing the dosage by one drop daily. The maximum dose is 30 drops, but if you feel worse, it is important to stop and reduce the dosage by 5 drops. You need to take the drug at this dosage for a month, after which you take a month-long break. If necessary, the course is repeated no more than twice a year.
  • "Slide". Start taking with five drops, gradually increasing to twenty in one dose. After this, the dose is reduced by a drop per day and the course is completed at the end of the “countdown”. Then you should take a ten-day break and repeat the course. The number of courses during the year is no more than three.

It is important to follow the general recommendations offered by the instructions for using celandine tincture for the treatment and prevention of cancer.

  • Prevention - once a year. A “slide” carried out once during the year is considered a sufficient preventive course.
  • Treatment is based on how you feel. It is important to monitor your general condition while taking the drug. Each body adapts to it in its own way. The average dosage is 10-15 drops, but even for cancer patients the dosage should not exceed more than two teaspoons per day. If you feel worse, it is important to reduce the dosage.
  • Take diluted. Drops should be diluted in water or milk in a volume of up to one hundred milliliters. Some herbalists recommend diluting the tincture in an aqueous infusion of celandine. Herbalist Andrei Varennikov explains this recommendation as follows: the alkaloids of a medicinal plant can only be extracted with alcohol, but some of them remain in the herb and precipitate in the form of salts. To use all the active substances, you need to drip the tincture into an aqueous infusion of celandine. To prepare it, brew a spoonful of dried herbs with a glass of boiling water and let it brew for 40 minutes. After this, strain the infusion and use it to dissolve alcohol drops.
  • Use toxicity reducing agents. During the treatment period, it is necessary to consume pure milk and fermented milk products, which improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and reduce the toxic effects of the drug.

In small doses, celandine tincture has a calming effect, slows down the activity of the heart, and lowers blood pressure.

Serum tincture of celandine is less effective than alcohol tincture. It does not allow the extraction of active alkaloids from medicinal raw materials, which is achieved only with the help of alcohol.

What is the effectiveness of the tincture

The alcohol tincture is quickly absorbed. It contains more than 20 plant alkaloids with high physiological activity. Alkaloids are poisonous compounds, which in small doses have a therapeutic effect, but in large doses they are poisonous and can cause harm. Therefore, tinctures are taken drop by drop.

The composition of the medicinal plant includes:

  1. chelidonine, which acts similarly to morphine, calming the nerves and relieving pain;
  2. hemochelidonin, which has an analgesic effect;
  3. chelerythrine, which relieves irritation;
  4. sanguinarine, which activates intestinal motility and secretion of the salivary glands;
  5. protopin, which reduces the excitability of the autonomic nervous system;

Essential oils, present in the composition in the form of dissolved nitrogen-free substances, have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic properties. They relax and relieve spasms of the walls of blood vessels and smooth muscles of internal organs.

Saponins have a calming and diuretic effect.

Tyramine has a vasoconstrictor effect and increases blood pressure.

Histamine has a sedative effect. The predominance of free histamine causes dilation of capillaries, a decrease in pressure, and increased secretion of gastric juice.

Flavonoids play the role of plant antioxidants that resist foreign fungi, viruses, and bacteria. They have antispasmodic, antiviral, anticancer effects.

Organic acids (succinic, malic, acetic) are characterized by activation of the metabolic process.

Vitamins (B-carotene, C) have an antioxidant effect, increasing the body's protective functions.

Properties of celandine tincture with vodka

The alcohol tincture of celandine contains many toxic substances that destroy pathogens. This medicinal drug can cope with any skin diseases. Even with those that were abandoned by official medicine.

Important! Treatment of skin diseases with celandine should be carried out after consulting a doctor.

In addition to cleansing the skin, vodka tincture of celandine can heal many diseases, for example, the medicine has the following qualities:

  • helps overcome cramps;
  • calms the nervous system;
  • relieves pain;
  • fights malignant tumors and metastases;
  • has a powerful choleretic and diuretic effect.

The product also helps get rid of all types of fungal infections, waste and toxins. Used to treat liver diseases.

Medicinal properties

Together with other biologically active substances included in the chemical composition of the tincture, they have a pronounced therapeutic effect:

  • anti-inflammatory,
  • antibacterial,
  • diuretic,
  • bactericidal,
  • antiviral,
  • painkillers,
  • antifungal,
  • antitumor,
  • anticonvulsant.

You can buy the tincture at a pharmacy or in online stores. The price depends on the manufacturer, the size of the bottle and packaging. The cost of 20% alcohol extract in a 100 ml bottle ranges from 300 rubles and more.

How to calculate the number of bottles per course of treatment. The calculation can be based on the fact that one milliliter of extract contains 20 drops. If you take 30 drops, then a 100 ml bottle will be enough for about 20 days of treatment.

Preparation of the drug

The medicine is based on celandine itself and alcohol. Depending on the type of preparation, sometimes vodka is used and the drug is taken orally or rubbed into the skin. In the pharmacy assortment you will find tinctures with alcohol, and vodka is used mainly for self-production. Both alcohol and vodka are equivalent in their use, but in order to choose the only correct option, it would be useful to consult a doctor. Strong alcohol ideally extracts the necessary beneficial components from the plant, so tinctures have special properties that other types of medicine do not have. In order not to harm yourself, you must adhere to all standards during production, because any mistake or non-compliance with the tincture recipe can activate toxic particles that are usually destroyed by alcohol. To be sure of the effectiveness of the drug, you can purchase a bottle at the pharmacy, because when creating a tincture, the manufacturer must adhere to the required norms and standards.

Contraindications to the use of celandine preparations

Since the plant is poisonous, it is necessary to strictly follow the dosage prescribed by the doctor so as not to cause harm to the body. Continuous treatment can last no more than two weeks, then a break is required. The number of cycles is prescribed by the doctor.

Treatment with celandine tincture is contraindicated for:

  • individual intolerance,
  • during pregnancy, lactation,
  • epilepsy, serious mental disorders;
  • angina pectoris;
  • chronic constipation;
  • diseases of the stomach, liver (in the acute stage);
  • long-term dysbacteriosis;
  • bronchial asthma;
  • under the age of 12 years (for internal use);

When used externally, the drug is not recommended for use on open wounds.

Side effects and overdose

Oversaturation of the body with alkaloids can cause dizziness, nausea and vomiting. In severe cases - convulsions and paralysis, leading to death.

Long-term internal use, without breaks for recovery, causes gastrointestinal dysfunction and liver cell damage. This is expressed by symptoms of nausea, vomiting, dysbiosis, constipation, low blood pressure, weakness, and insomnia.

When used externally, it causes allergic reactions, burning sensation, swelling, chemical burn with redness, itching and pain.

How does it interact with drugs?

Internal use of the tincture requires care. Since celandine preparations are incompatible with some medications:

  • with digitalis (based on digitalis),
  • morphine-containing
  • sulfonamides,
  • drugs to reduce sugar.

When used externally, incompatibility with these drugs should also be taken into account. So, for example, when taking the tincture, you cannot simultaneously burn warts with products containing potassium or sodium hydroxide.

When using celandine tincture, be careful, because the plant is poisonous. The article provides folk recipes for preparing the drug.

Tincture of celandine with vodka - application

The use of celandine in folk medicine is a whole science that must be approached with caution and in compliance with all dosages. Celandine tincture is used in different ways for various diseases.

Externally

Warthog (celandine) helps with all dermatological problems - from calluses to advanced psoriasis.

All affected areas should be lubricated several times a day with fresh juice. And in cold weather, a healing remedy made from celandine in alcohol is suitable for lubrication and compresses.

Use of celandine internally

Follow the correct intake of celandine tincture.

  1. Taking the tincture orally should begin with one drop - this is the initial dose of using celandine tincture.
  2. The dosage is increased gradually, by 1 drop every day.
  3. The maximum dose is 15 drops.
  4. Then a gradual decrease in the amount of the drug begins in the reverse order - from 15 to 1 drop.

In some cases, after reaching a volume of 15 drops, it is recommended to take a break for 5 days. After which the amount of medicine is increased to 20 drops. The medicinal drug must be taken in two-week courses, with a break of 5 days.

The product has a very bitter taste, so it must be taken in diluted form. The best time to take is 1 hour before the first meal.

The medicine is indicated for the development of malignant tumors, ulcers and pathologies of the stomach and intestines. The tincture is an excellent protection during flu epidemics and viral diseases.

Important! Celandine is a poisonous plant. It is better to start taking celandine preparations with a water tincture. If the body reacts positively, you can switch to an alcohol mixture, since aqueous tincture of celandine has less effective properties.

What is the popular name for celandine?

The scientific name of the plant is greater celandine. Its most popular name is celandine, celandine - the herb acquired its ability to treat skin diseases: rashes, scrofula, lichen, acne and pimples, eczema and even skin tuberculosis.

For its ability to get rid of warts, the plant is sometimes called warthog, and for helping with unexplained disorders of the liver - jaundice. Another name - yellow milkweed or red milkweed - celandine received in folk medicine due to the characteristic milky juice of a dark orange or orange-red color. For our ancestors, the juice of the plant replaced iodine; it was used to lubricate wounds, disinfect containers for milk, and fumigate livestock to prevent death. Its use in some eye diseases explains the name “prozornik”.

Other names of the plant are yellow grass, chistukha, cow grass, golden grass, blood grass, dog soap, witch grass, yellow spurge, swallow grass. By the way, the Latin name of celandine (Chelidonium majus L.) is translated as “swallow”. The plant blooms precisely during the arrival of the first swallows, and withers and dries up during their departure.

Serum tincture recipe

The classic alcohol tincture of a medicinal plant, for the preparation of which you just need to place the raw materials in a jar and pour vodka, has begun to be replaced by a cheese tincture. This remedy is also called celandine kvass. It is accepted more willingly, because the taste of such a medicine is more pleasant.

To prepare an infusion of celandine with whey you need to:

  • Take 3 liters of fresh whey and warm it up a little;
  • Dissolve a glass of sugar in warm whey;
  • Place a glass of fresh or half a glass of dried celandine in a gauze bag and lower it to the bottom of an enamel bowl;
  • Pour in the sweet whey, cover with a towel and leave in a dark place to infuse for 3 weeks;
  • After the fermentation process, strain, seal and place in the refrigerator.

The drink is used for internal use. The product helps cleanse the body, improve the functioning of the digestive system, and overcome some nervous disorders.

If we compare a vodka tincture and one that is prepared on the basis of whey, then the first option is better. Vodka tincture has a broader effect; it can be used internally to treat external wounds; unlike whey, it can be prepared more quickly or even purchased at a pharmacy. Whey tincture, unlike vodka, cannot treat disorders of the liver and gall bladder, is not able to restore appetite, improve the functioning of the endocrine system and fight cancer.

Instructions for use of celandine

In addition to traditional medicine recipes (each of which can have up to a dozen conflicting instructions and methods of use), there are several types of pharmaceutical preparations based on this plant.
Most of them are aimed at external use, although some experts suggest using even highly concentrated products internally. Celandine can be found in the pharmacy in the form of: extract - for skin problems; when using it is important to be careful, since burns and scars are possible; alcohol tincture - can be used internally; juice - for situations when fresh plants are not available; ointments - based on plant extract, palm and linseed oil, with the addition of glycerin, lanolin and propolis.

Extract

This dosage form (the cheapest one available in the pharmacy) is necessary for the treatment of skin diseases - from warts to purulent wounds, lupus and age spots, and its oral use is indicated for relieving spasms or stimulating bile production. The instructions are simple:

  • lotions are applied on a cotton pad for 15-20 minutes, duration of use is a month;
  • in warm water 10 drops up to 3 times a day after meals for a month for polyposis and 2 weeks for psoriasis, eczema, lupus, acne;
  • rinse the mouth with a teaspoon of the drug diluted in a glass of water for stomatitis up to 2 times a day.

Ointment

Anti-inflammatory, absorbable and antimicrobial are the most pronounced properties of this drug. Due to the fatty base, the ointment softens the cauterizing effect of the main component. Use up to 4 times a day, in a thin layer, do not apply a bandage on top. Duration of use – up to a month. The ointment is used to lubricate the affected areas:

  • fungus;
  • neurodermatitis;
  • diathesis;
  • eczema;
  • dermatitis;
  • neoplasms (lipomas, warts, papillomas).

Decoction

When a patient asks a doctor how to drink celandine in order to avoid side effects as much as possible, he often receives a recipe for a homemade decoction: this is a safer form than juice or tincture, since the concentration of toxic substances is reduced. Recipes and principles of use are as follows:

  • Externally: infuse a tablespoon of root (chopped) with a glass of boiling water, use for compresses or lotions for skin diseases or baths for gynecological problems or foot fungus.
  • Inside: boil 1 tsp. herbs with 300 ml of water for 4 minutes, let cool, filter. Drink 50 ml before meals - for gastrointestinal spasms, inflammation of the gallbladder, liver diseases, polyps.

Tincture

The alcohol tincture has the widest range of possibilities, the use of which is justified not only for skin diseases, but also for problems with the thyroid gland, liver, stomach, and fungal infections of the nails. The instructions are:

  • For allergic skin manifestations and acne, dilute 10 drops in 1/4 glass of water, apply lotions on cotton pads in the evening. Treatment lasts 4-5 days.
  • For diseases of the thyroid gland, celandine tincture is used internally (2 weeks, 1 drop in 100 ml of water on an empty stomach in the morning - you can similarly cleanse the liver) and externally - compresses for half an hour according to the instructions for skin diseases.
  • For fungus, apply the tincture to the affected areas in the morning and evening until cured.

Juice

The most expensive dosage form (about 400 rubles for 50 ml), the instructions for use are similar to those provided with fresh juice from personally collected herbs. The range of diseases for which it is useful is wide: from mastitis and otitis to lichen, hemorrhoids and adenoids

Use is permitted topically and orally; in both cases it is important to adhere to the recommended dose of the drug:

  • Inside: 4 drops per 50 ml of warm water in the morning half an hour before meals, gradually (adding 1 drop at a time) increase the dose to 15 drops. Use this regimen for 3 months.
  • Externally: lubricate the affected area of skin 4 times a day, morning and evening.
