How to cure herpes on the lips at home
A “cold” on the mucous membranes of the lips is caused by a viral disease - herpes simplex type I, abbreviated as HSV-1. This virus has infected 95% of the adult population of the planet.
A slight decrease in immunity can awaken a dormant virus, and unpleasant “bubbles” will appear on the lips, which not only spoil the appearance, but also cause pain. Once settled in the body, HSV-1 will never leave it.
The external manifestations of herpes will go away on their own after some time, but every normal person strives to alleviate this condition, to prevent the blisters from growing to a significant size and leaving marks behind.
What is Herpes?
Those bubbles that you see on your lips are the work of the Herpes simplex virus.
This virus lives in our nerve cells and does not become active as long as our immune system is able to keep it under our thumb. As soon as the immune system weakens, this agile virus immediately manifests itself in the form of wounds on the face. Most often the lips are affected, sometimes it rashes around the nose or on the cheeks.

It is impossible to get rid of this virus. But you can control it very effectively. According to statistics, about 75% of people have the Herpes virus in their bodies and many do not even know it.
Stages of herpes
Since type 1 herpes is one of the most “popular” diseases on the planet, there is a huge amount of popular advice on how to quickly cure herpes on the lip at home.
Some of them have a scientific basis, others are completely inexplicable, and others can have the opposite effect.
We tried to present the maximum number of folk recipes for quickly getting rid of herpetic blisters on the lip and consider the possibility of their use.
Basic treatment should be carried out with acyclovir and drugs based on it. The rest of the treatment can be used as optional.
How to treat herpes on the lips at home
It is not necessary to buy an expensive product at the pharmacy - you can buy the cheapest cream containing acyclovir and supplement its effect with traditional methods.
In addition, one must realize that treating a sore in one day is impossible; there is a certain cycle of development of the disease:
- itching appears at the site of future rashes;
- the itching develops into a burning sensation, the affected area turns red;
- bubbles filled with clear liquid appear;
- the bubbles grow and merge;
- ulceration stage: the blisters burst and become wet (the most contagious stage);
- after the fluid drains, a scab appears - an unsightly sore that heals over time (sometimes a scar remains).
However, with some effort, it is possible to improve your condition in one day, prevent the sore from growing, and prevent the formation of a scar.
In order for the blisters not to grow, they need to dry out; to reduce the chances of a scar, the skin needs to be sufficiently moisturized.
However, you cannot use fatty creams that create a film and prevent air penetration.
The issue of using folk remedies to combat herpes is relevant for pregnant women, because it is undesirable for them to use drugs with acyclovir, and due to the “swing” of immunity while expecting a baby, an outbreak of herpes is not uncommon.
Antiviral drugs with acyclovir are used externally for herpes on the lips; they can be applied up to 4 times a day. What to do in your free time from applying acyclovir, because you really want to do something else?
There are many popular recommendations on how to quickly treat HSV-1 on the mucous membranes of the lips at home.
Moreover, the choice of how to treat it at home even depends on what room of your home you are in at the moment when you were struck by the idea of urgent treatment for a sore on the lips.
Bathroom
Toothpaste
There are many reviews about the quick treatment of HSV-1 on the lips at home with toothpaste. Toothpaste is a handy disinfectant and drying agent for many problems.
For example, it can be used to treat acne to quickly eliminate them.
Also, toothpaste can be the first aid for herpes on the lips at home. At the first symptoms of herpes on the lips, apply a little toothpaste to the itching and burning area and leave for 20 minutes.
How to treat herpes on the lips at home
What components of the paste make it a wonderful remedy for herpes on the lip at home? Toothpaste usually contains urea, which acts on the virus.
In addition, it is better to choose to treat the problem area with fluoride paste: it destroys the cell membrane of viruses and bacteria. It is also good if the paste contains menthol, chamomile, and eucalyptus extract.
Do not use paste in the form of a gel or with a whitening effect. In general, it is worth monitoring the natural composition of the toothpaste, the absence of artificial colors and flavors in it, and this advice is relevant not only in the case of using toothpaste to treat blisters on the lips.
Mouthwash
The principle of operation is the same. The difference is that there are no white traces of treatment left on the lip.
What medications are used
Drugs can only eliminate superficial symptoms. The disease disappears for a while, but under the first favorable conditions it manifests itself again as inflammation; treatment of herpes on the lips at home is carried out using tablets and ointments:
- Acyclovir
- Zovirax
- Penciclovir
- Docosanol
- Valaciclovir
- Herpferon
Immunomodulatory substances that increase the body's protective properties:
- Esberitox
- Echinacea
Amino acid that stimulates accelerated skin regeneration:
- Lysine
These remedies can eliminate not only the symptoms, but also reduce the frequent occurrence of relapses. In addition to expensive medications, you can use folk remedies. They will also help cure incipient herpes on your own at home.
The following effective remedies for combating herpes are distinguished:
- Toothpaste – dries and disinfects the damaged area of the skin. It should be applied for no more than 20 minutes, then carefully remove. The main thing is to use the product before inflamed follicles appear. Frequency of use – 2 times a day;
- Aloe – taken internally and externally. The consistency is diluted from freshly squeezed juice and May honey in a ratio of 2:1. It is recommended to increase immunity by taking 1 tsp before meals. mixtures. For external use, the leaf is cut along the base. The inner part is applied to the inflammation for 30 minutes. Continue until signs are eliminated;
- Sea buckthorn oil - purchased at the pharmacy. It is recommended to lubricate up to 7 times a day;
- Tea tree oil - can be used no more than 4 times a day when diluted with lemon balm, fir or soybean oil. Use in its pure form provokes a burn;
- Calendula tincture - lubricate the damaged area with alcohol tincture up to 5 times a day. The product dries out inflamed areas, helping to eliminate soreness and redness. After exposure, it is recommended to lubricate the neoplasm with zinc ointment.
In addition, it is possible to use other plants that have anti-inflammatory and disinfectant properties. Medicinal chamomile, echinacea, onions, garlic, as well as propolis and eucalyptus also show a positive effect in treating herpes on the lips at home.
Living room
In the living room, the choice of products is not so wide. However, if we assume that the first aid kit is stored here, it becomes more interesting. Especially if there are no antiviral drugs in the medicine cabinet.
Aloe
How do our grandmothers treat herpes on the mucous membranes of the lips at home? Of course, my favorite aloe. This plant in the form of an indoor flower is found in almost every home.
It is often also called agave. The active components of the plant have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and wound-healing effects.
Unlike many products, aloe does not dry out the skin. On the contrary, the juice of this plant is often included in skin moisturizers.
For treatment, you need to tear off one of the fleshy leaves of the agave and lubricate the affected area with its juice 5-6 times a day. If the bitter juice is unpleasant to you, you can mix it with honey.
In addition to aloe juice, you can use a piece of the plant: make a compress from it for about 15 minutes. The juice of a plant older than 3 years is considered the most effective.
Propolis tincture
Usually somewhere behind the aloe there is a miracle cure for everything in the world - propolis tincture. If it is produced in a factory, it is a bottle with the inscription “propolis tincture”.
However, real grandmothers prefer to make it themselves. Look for a brownish liquid in a bottle with something floating in it, often even a drowned bee.
The tincture has a characteristic smell. You can wipe the sore with this liquid 3-4 times a day.
Sea buckthorn oil
This product is sold in finished form in pharmacies. Sea buckthorn is famous for its remarkable healing properties.
Those of them that are useful to us in treating herpes on the lip quickly and at home are analgesic, wound-healing, anti-purulent properties. Sea buckthorn oil is used to lubricate the sore on the lip 6 times a day.
Sea buckthorn oil is not the only one that has a healing effect for this disease. Tea tree, almond, and fir oils have similar recommendations for use.
Validol
How to burn herpes at home? If you missed the initial moment of formation of the sore, and the affected area of the lip is very itchy, there is a great desire to cauterize the blisters with something so that the annoying itching goes away.
It is not clear why this remedy helps, however, many people use validol for herpes on the lips. It may be effective due to its high menthol content.
In addition to menthol, it contains isovaleric acid, and valerian is also often used as a quick help for herpes, which we will discuss below.
Some popular advice contains instructions to simply wipe the sore with a validol tablet soaked in water 6 times a day.
Others recommend sprinkling the blisters that have become wet with crushed validol powder.
Validol drops are applied to the rash using a cotton swab. Popular extreme sports enthusiasts even recommend taking a course of validol for frequent herpes rashes, but we advise you to adhere to more conservative methods of treatment.
In addition to validol, corvalol and valocordin are used among the “heart” remedies.
Valerian
Are you puzzled about what to put on a cold sore and keep your cat entertained? Valerian for herpes on the lips is your option. Use alcohol tincture of valerian. It is used to cauterize herpes.
Apply a little tincture to a cotton swab and keep it on the sore for a few minutes. Then spend 15 minutes recovering from pain and horror and repeat the procedure.
What is the effect of this remedy? Possibly due to the presence of alcohol in it.
Alcohol, iodine, brilliant green
Despite the large number of popular recommendations, these are not better options than anointing herpes on the lip at home.
These substances have no effect on the virus, but they can burn the mucous membrane. If you do not want to decorate yourself with scars, do not use these substances on mucous membranes.
How to quickly cure a cold on the lips - methods
If herpes has managed to manifest itself and transparent blisters appear on the lips, do not despair and neglect treatment. It is no longer possible to quickly get rid of a cold that has popped up on your lip. First of all, you need to start taking special antiherpetic tablets and medications to maintain immunity. External remedies based on the same active ingredients that are part of the main drug with an antiviral effect will help to quickly remove colds on the lips and dry out herpes.
In addition, there are a number of folk and pharmacy remedies that can further speed up the treatment of colds on the lips and carry it out more effectively.
Mint compress
It is necessary to make a concentrated decoction of mint. To do this, you need to pour about one tablespoon of fresh or dried leaves with 100 milliliters of boiling water. The resulting mixture must be infused for at least half an hour. Then make a compress and apply to areas of the skin affected by herpes. To get rid of a cold, you need to apply it to the sore spot several times within one hour.
Propolis tincture or propolis decoction
A decoction or tincture of propolis is used in compresses. You can also lubricate the skin with these liquids using a cotton swab. When using alcohol tincture of propolis, you should be careful, as it can dry out and burn the skin.
Raspberry lotions
To treat a cold, you can use fresh raspberries or a decoction of its leaves. You can apply them for a long time and repeat as often as you like. Raspberries help stop the activity of the virus and accelerate tissue repair.
Juice and decoction of celandine
To quickly treat herpes, you can use celandine - fresh celandine juice or a decoction of leaves (including dried). You need to lubricate the affected area with the juice, and make compresses from the broth. Remember that too frequent and prolonged use of celandine can lead to dry skin.
Aloe juice
Aloe juice can be used as an independent remedy to treat the manifestations of herpes. The juice should be applied to the affected area several times a day. This can be done several times an hour. Even with frequent application, aloe juice does not cause side effects.
Aloe juice is also one of the ingredients in medicinal mixtures that can be used to smear a popped herpes on the lip so that it goes away quickly.
Sulfur ointment and aloe juice
To prepare the mixture, you need to take 2 teaspoons of aloe juice and 1 teaspoon of sulfur ointment. The ingredients must be thoroughly mixed and the mixture allowed to sit for at least 3 hours. After this, the resulting ointment should be applied to the inflammation twice a day.
Levomekol
"Levomekol" is an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial ointment that helps fight infection caused by the herpes virus. This remedy is not included in the standard list of drugs prescribed for herpesvirus. However, the ointment can be used as an aid. It will be effective at all stages. It should be used for treatment at home only after reading the list of contraindications and recommendations for use. For example, it cannot be applied if a course of antibiotic treatment is currently underway.
Antiherpetic patches
Special Compeed patches for herpes on the lips are a fairly new invention. They are able to mask the wound and protect it from additional infection. However, antiherpetic medications are also applied to their surface and such patches help to quickly cure colds on the lips.
Herpes is a rather unpleasant disease. It takes a long time to heal and you have to experience significant discomfort all this time. It can be stopped completely only when the first symptoms appear. However, there are ways to alleviate the condition even in later stages and speed up treatment and achieve faster healing. But the main method of therapy should be the use of antiviral drugs.
Kitchen
The kitchen is full of everything useful. When visiting her, do not forget that it is important not only to know what to apply to herpes, but also to withstand the drug for the required amount of time, and if you start eating or drinking during the specified period, the drug will move from the lip to your esophagus.
Garlic and onion
The substances that make up garlic have a proven antiviral effect. Apply a freshly cut clove of garlic briefly to the site of the herpetic defect several times a day.
What other strong-smelling things help with HSV-1 on the lips at home? Of course, onions. Use in the same way as garlic.
Lemon
Lemon or lime can also be used to get rid of cold sore blisters quickly. The juice of these citrus fruits disinfects and also softens the skin. Just apply the juice several times a day.
Salt
You can sprinkle the affected area with fine salt. Yes, it dries out the skin. Yes, it will hurt. But we are figuring out how to cure herpes on the lips in 24 hours, and not how to do it painlessly.
To increase the result, it is recommended to cover the sore covered with salt or covered with a salt compress with a plaster - apparently, to increase the painful effect at the moment of tearing it off.
However, we do not recommend gluing the patch - if the part with the glue gets on the sore, it will tear off the resulting crust.
In addition, in order for the blisters to dry out, access to air is necessary; under the patch, the sore will become soaked and heal more slowly.
Soda
Baking soda is known as an antipruritic. In addition, it disinfects. Moisten baking soda with water and apply the mixture to the sore. Hold for a few minutes.
Egg film
The egg has a thin film between the white and the shell. It can be applied to cold sores on the lip. Leave until dry.
Ice cubes
There is advice to “freeze out” herpes on the lip by applying an ice cube to the blisters for 20 seconds three times a day.
Theoretical justification: the virus is afraid of low temperatures. Is 20 seconds enough to “kill” the virus? Unlikely.
In addition, there is a danger of spreading the virus with drops of water over healthy skin. Ice certainly relieves itching and redness for a short time, but does not fight the virus.
Herpes on lips home treatment
Tea
Fresh tea infusion is often used to disinfect mucous membranes. The tannins and vitamins it contains disinfect and promote wound healing.
For example, tea eye lotions are known. To treat a herpes rash, brew fresh loose-leaf black tea.
Wipe the sores with infusion 4 times a day. Especially lazy people use a tea bag from the brewed drink.
Instant coffee mixture
Those who do not like simple solutions will choose this method to quickly cure herpes on the lip in one day. 1 tbsp. instant coffee, a teaspoon of wheat flour, the same amount of honey, 50 g of kefir, 2 cloves of garlic crushed in a garlic press.
Stir the drug. Apply to the herpes sore. Leave until dry. Without washing off the potion, apply a second layer and rinse off after 30 minutes. Repeat until recovery.
Treatment of HSV-1 quickly at home with folk remedies usually also includes conspiracies. If you went to make the last recipe, it is obvious that herpes has really bothered you.
Most likely, at this stage of the struggle it will not be superfluous for you to use the spell: “Latial jam, double-edged. As the left corner comes out of the right corner, so come out of the mouth.
I'm chasing the snack, it won't come back, it'll do, it won't come back. For jamming, the eternal side is the extreme one.” When pronouncing magic words, you must hold on to the edge of your clothing.
For those who are not confident in the power of magic, auto-training is recommended. Choose the words yourself. Something about “I’m beautiful and healthy, but herpes will go away.”
Burnt paper mixture
Burn the paper, 1 tbsp. mix ash with gruel, 3 medium-sized cloves of garlic and a small amount of honey. Apply to the sore.
Warming up
You can often find recommendations about warming up herpes on the lips by inhaling steam from jacket potatoes or visiting a steam room. Is it possible to warm herpes on the lips?
To quickly treat herpes, it is necessary that the sore comes into contact with moisture as little as possible, since soaking complicates tissue regeneration. Such procedures will only increase the healing time of the wound.
hot spoon
It is recommended to heat a spoon in hot tea and apply it to the sore several times a day.
Folk remedies for herpes on the lips
What to do at home for herpes on the lip if pharmaceuticals are not at hand? The only good way out is traditional methods of treatment that will fight against the virus and its spread.
The presented folk methods for combating the herpes virus are allowed to be used during pregnancy and children only after consultation with a doctor.
Essential oils
Due to their powerful disinfecting and antiseptic effects, essential oils are often used to relieve inflammation. Due to their antiviral and local immunomodulatory properties, they began to be used as one of the best remedies for herpes.
It is recommended to start treatment when the first signs of herpes on the lips (labial herpes) appear.
The most popular oils are:
- oils of coniferous trees (fir, pine);
- sea buckthorn;
- tea tree oil.
Less commonly, mint, eucalyptus and lavender oils are used for the same purposes.
- Fir oil. To prevent burns, dilute the main component with vegetable or olive oil in a ratio of 1:5. The resulting product is used to treat the desired area 5 times a day. The course of treatment is up to 5 days.
- Sea buckthorn oil. Lubricate herpetic lesions until they disappear completely. The number of procedures per day is 5 times.
- Tea tree oil. Can be used both in pure form and in combination with other vegetable oils. You can quickly get rid of the sore if you dilute tea tree oil in a 1:1 ratio with soybean oil. Problem areas are treated until completely cured.
- Pine oil. Apply to the site of inflammation daily 5 times a day, the course of treatment is up to 5 days. You can also use this remedy to prevent the recurrence of herpes during a cold.
- Lavender oil. Apply the remedy to the problem area up to 5 times a day. Duration of treatment – 5 days.
Treatment of herpetic lesions with essential oils is carried out with a cosmetic stick or using a cotton swab. If severe discomfort occurs during treatment, discard the prescription you are using.
Propolis (tincture)
The sticky substance produced by bees is successfully used against the herpes virus in 2 ways in the form of a tincture. They can be used separately or in parallel, but external treatment helps heal the sore, and internal use helps reduce the activity of the virus from the inside. An integrated approach allows you to get the long-awaited effect much faster.
Lotions for external use:
- Tincture for oral administration. Leave 100 g of product in the freezer for 20 minutes, then grate. Pour the crushed product into 500 ml of 96° alcohol. Place the tincture in a dark place in a glass container for 7-10 days, shake it daily 3 times a day. At the end of the period, strain the alcohol solution. Take 25 drops of the finished tincture (can be diluted in warm water or milk).
- Lotions for external use. You can prepare the tincture in one day by pouring alcohol into a small piece of propolis and letting it brew at 96° for 3 hours. Soak a cotton swab in an alcohol solution and apply to the sore spot for 1.5-2 hours, apply compresses 3 times a day.
To eliminate herpetic eruptions, both a tincture prepared at home and purchased at a pharmacy are relevant.
Aloe
The use of aloe (agagave) is due to the beneficial properties of the plant.
Agave reduces the inflammatory process and the affected area of rashes, disinfects the surface and promotes tissue regeneration.
Agave is used for herpes in several ways:
- Compress. A fleshy piece of aloe leaf (about 2-3 cm), cut lengthwise into 2 parts. Apply the first half to the herpes for 5 minutes and hold it with your hand, and fix the second half for 12 hours. After time has passed, remove the application and carefully cauterize it with propolis tincture.
- Ointment. Mix 1 tsp. juice of the plant with the same amount of honey. Apply the resulting mass 4 times a day for 5 days. Before the procedure, remove any remaining ointment from the affected area with a damp, unscented wipe (or a sponge soaked in hydrogen peroxide).
- Tonic. Pour 250 boiling water over 1 aloe leaf, let it brew for 2 hours, then strain. Treat rashes with the prepared infusion 5 times a day.
- Mixture. Mix aloe, honey, alcohol in equal proportions (1 tsp is enough). The prepared mixture is applied to infected areas 4 times a day. The mixture can be reused if stored in the refrigerator in a closed container.
- Aloe juice and blue clay. 1 tbsp. l. mix plants with 1 tbsp. l. clay to form a mass similar in consistency to sour cream. The prepared mixture is applied 6 times a day in a thin layer to the area with rashes.
Kalanchoe
Due to its antiviral, anti-inflammatory and healing properties, the home plant is effectively used to treat herpes on the lips.
- Applications. Cut a fresh leaf of the plant and apply the pulp side to the sore for 5-7 minutes. Repeat similar actions after 3-4 hours.
- For one day. This is how you can quickly get rid of herpes if you just felt its symptoms (pain, itching, throbbing, burning), but there are no visible signs yet. Lubricate the painful area with Kalanchoe juice throughout the day - this will prevent the appearance of herpetic formation.
Calendula
The plant can reduce inflammation, eliminate redness and itching, and block the reproduction of the virus. Calendula (marigold) is used in several forms.
Calendula-based ointments
- Squeeze the juice from fresh calendula petals through cheesecloth to make 1 tbsp. l. Mix the resulting juice with 1 tsp. Vaseline. Apply the ointment in a thick layer to the area affected by herpes.
- Take Vaseline and crushed dry calendula flowers in equal proportions, mix and generously lubricate the desired area of the lip.
Tincture of calendula
Calendula tincture can be bought at a pharmacy for 24 rubles, or you can use a home remedy prepared with your own hands.
Homemade recipe:
- 2 tbsp. l. pour fresh flowers of the plant with 2 glasses of vodka in a glass container;
- close the lid tightly;
- put in a dark place for 2 weeks;
- After the expiration date, strain the tincture and pour it into a dark glass container (you can use old bottles of pharmaceutical tinctures and alcohol).
Method of using alcohol solution:
- Externally. Treat the affected area with a cosmetic stick dipped in tinctures 4 times a day.
- Inside. Take 25 drops of marigold tincture, diluted in 150 ml of water, drink 3 times a day.
The option for internal use will help boost immunity. It is recommended to combine it with local treatment, and also take the tincture to prevent activation of the virus.
Calendula decoction for washing
2 tbsp. l. dry calendula flowers pour ½ liter of water, put on fire and bring to a boil. Boil over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Then remove, let cool, strain and wash with the resulting decoction 5 times a day.
Calendula in olive oil
An equally effective and efficient way to prepare calendula extract:
- Fill 1/3 of the jar with fresh marigold flowers;
- pour the contents with olive oil under the neck;
- put in a water bath, but do not bring to a boil;
- allow the medicinal product to cool;
- put in a cool, dark place for a week.
Lubricate the problem area with a cosmetic stick dipped in the prepared extract 5 times a day.
Melissa (tincture)
Melissa herb has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, sedative, antispasmodic and astringent effects. To use it for herpes on the lips, you need to prepare a tincture:
- 1 tbsp. l. Place fresh crushed lemon balm leaves in a 0.5 jar;
- add 3 tbsp there. l. alcohol;
- let it brew for 3 hours;
- Strain the tincture using gauze.
Soak a sponge or a piece of cotton wool in the prepared product and apply the lotion for 5 minutes. The procedure is repeated 6 times a day for 5 days.
Celandine
The perennial herbaceous plant celandine has a local analgesic effect, has anti-inflammatory properties and is an excellent antiseptic.
- Juice. Pass the fresh stems and leaves of the plant through a meat grinder, place the finished mixture on cheesecloth and squeeze the juice from it into a glass container (it is important that there is free space between the tightly closed lid and the raw materials - about 3 cm). Insist for a week. Carefully open the lid periodically to release gases. Treat the desired area with a cosmetic stick soaked in juice 3 times a day, repeat 3 treatments each time.
- Tincture. Pour the crushed herb with alcohol in a glass container, keeping the proportions 1:3. Let the product brew for 10 days in a cool, dark place, periodically turning the container with the contents. After the allotted period of time, lubricate the area with herpetic lesions with the resulting tincture 3 times a day.
- Decoction. Pour boiling water over finely chopped celandine and place in a water bath (for about a quarter of an hour). Let the broth cool, strain and pour it into a jar. Treat the rash 5 times a day.
Despite all the benefits of celandine, do not forget that the plant is poisonous. Carry out all procedures associated with it wearing medical gloves and be careful not to get the juice on mucous membranes, eyes or healthy areas of the skin.
Garlic
Garlic juice contains biologically active substances, thanks to which it has an anti-inflammatory and antiviral effect on lesions and improves immunity.
- Garlic juice - 1 way. Peel the garlic bulb, cut it into 2 parts and lubricate the area affected by the virus with the cut area. The number of procedures per day is 6 times, take a break at night.
- Garlic juice - method 2. Grate the garlic clove, place the resulting pulp on gauze and a piece of bandage. Apply to the site of inflammation for 3-5 minutes, repeat these actions up to 7 times a day, and can be fixed with a band-aid.
Do not be afraid of a burning sensation on your lip - this is a sign of a therapeutic effect.
Garlic ointments:
- Grate 3 cloves of garlic and mix with 2 tsp. olive or sunflower oil, the resulting mass lubricate the area affected by the herpes virus 3 times a day;
- Pour 1 chopped garlic clove into 50 ml of boiling water, cover with a lid and let steep for 5 hours. Apply the finished infusion to the affected area of the lip;

- take 2 grated cloves of garlic and add to them 30 ml of natural yogurt, and 1 tsp. instant coffee, flour and bee honey. Apply the prepared mass to the inflamed area and let it dry. It is important not to peel off or wash off the mixture, but wait until it comes off on its own, then repeat the procedure.
Honey
Using honey for labial herpes blocks the development of the virus, eliminates pain and relieves inflammation at the site of the rash.
To treat herpetic rashes on the lips, it is recommended to use natural linden honey, which contains the largest amount of beneficial elements.
Best recipes:
- Add onion juice, squeezed through cheesecloth, and birch ash to fresh, uncandied honey in proportions 3:1:1. Use a cosmetic stick to precisely apply the treatment to the area with rashes. The procedure is repeated 4 times a day, each time using a new cotton swab;
- The natural product can be used externally on its own. Natural medicine is applied to the sores 4 times a day, do not peel off the scabs.
In the absence of allergic reactions to honey, it is consumed orally, 1 tbsp. l. per day as a prevention of herpes to increase the body's defenses. The product can be added to tea, milk or sweetened compote.
Vinegar

- Add 10 g of yeast and 100 g of sugar to the apples.
- Place the jar in a warm place for 9 days and stir the contents daily 2 times a day.

How to use:
- to maintain the immune system in the morning on an empty stomach, drink 1 glass of water, dissolving 1 tbsp in it. l. vinegar and honey;
- for external use, soak a cotton swab in apple cider vinegar and apply to a herpetic rash - this recipe can be used before the appearance of ulcers, when swelling has just appeared, or before opening the blisters.
Other 7 effective folk treatments
Simple and no less famous recipes for herpes on the lips:
- Salt. Moisten your lips and apply table (edible) or sea salt to the affected area. After 20 minutes, rinse and lubricate them with balm. At the same time, to prevent the herpes infection from spreading, a pinch of salt is taken into the mouth.
- Soda. 1 tbsp. l. baking soda, pour 200 ml of boiling water, moisten a sponge in the solution and apply to the site of infection until the soda water cools down - a film forms on the lip. An easier method is to sprinkle baking soda on the inflamed area.
- Egg film. Breaking a fresh chicken egg, white and yolk - no need. Separate the film from the inside of the shell and stick it to the lip. Unpleasant sensations under the film indicate the healing process.
- Laundry soap. Foam yellow-brown soap with a specific smell, apply the foam to the sore and allow it to dry. As a result, a protective film is formed that prevents the virus from multiplying.
- Hot spoon. Quite a painful way to fight herpes. Dip a spoon into boiling water, heat and cauterize the inflammation. Repeat the procedure several times.
- Chlorophyllipt. Apply a cotton swab dipped in the solution to the sore for 5 minutes, repeat the procedure 4 times a day.
- Zelenka. If you don’t have special ointments and creams on hand for herpes on the lips, you can use brilliant green, which has a drying and disinfecting effect. The solution for external use is applied pointwise with a cosmetic stick.
Both when treating with pharmaceutical drugs and when using folk remedies, follow a diet at the same time. Review your diet, make sure your food contains more vitamins and proteins, give preference to easily digestible foods, drink more raspberry, rosehip or cherry teas. Giving up bad habits is another factor that promotes a speedy recovery and reduces the risk of developing the virus and relapses.
Outside the home
Earwax
Traditional healers know what to do to make herpes go away faster, even in the absence of available remedies.
When you are in complete isolation from the outside world, and not only are pharmacies, but even indoor plants and your grandmother’s Validol inaccessible, you are left with something that no one can take away - the will to defeat the disease and earwax.
Use this remedy until you at least get to toothpaste.
Aspen
