What is amaranth oil
The amaranth plant came to Russia from the central regions of South America. All parts of amaranth are useful and edible - roots, stems, seeds; in addition, amaranth is used as an ornamental border plant, having an attractive appearance. The oil is extracted from small black or pink amaranth seeds. Those who want to restore and improve their health should buy cold-pressed amaranth oil, since this production method preserves all the beneficial substances found in the seeds.
What is amaranth oil made from?
In Russia, the amaranth plant is little known. In fact, this is a beautifully flowering whole grain crop, also known as amaranth, velvet, and cockscomb. In South America and Mexico it is grown on a large scale and used in the food industry. In our country, amaranth oil is more valued, which, due to its rich healing composition, is used as a preventive measure and as part of a complex treatment of various diseases.
Oil is obtained from plant grains in several ways:
- by cold pressing (as a result, the main beneficial composition is preserved);
- extraction with carbon dioxide (the content of antioxidants and squalene is reduced);
- oil extraction (the amount of vitamins and some active components is reduced).
The most valuable product is considered to be the one obtained using the first method from raw materials of South American origin. Domestic products are also of high quality. The main bases for the production of amaranth oil are located in the Caucasus, Asia, Russia and southern Europe.
Along with oil extracted from amaranth grains, mixed versions are available for sale. They are based on a mixture of various plant seeds. The pure product is transparent and has a bright, rich yellow color. Some deviations within the yellowish-brown palette are acceptable. The structure of the oil is liquid, not viscous. The aroma contains herbaceous, woody and nutty notes. The taste is no less pleasant: light, soft, without bitterness.
