It is very difficult to insure against bruises for both adults and children. Because of them, the skin, soft tissues, muscles, joints are damaged - depending on the severity of the injury. It is very important to know the rules of first aid for such an illness and be able to cope with it. There are many folk remedies for the treatment of bruises and hematomas. Damage level
By severity, bruises are divided into four categories:
- Minor soft tissue damage.
- Bruise accompanied by swelling and hematoma.
- Injury involving damage to muscles, tendons and joints.
- Extensive damage to soft tissues and organs.
Treatment of bruises with folk remedies will be effective only for the first two categories. The remaining two should only be treated by a doctor.
How to treat a heel
When you bruise your heel, it is important to quickly relieve swelling and inflammation. Any traditional methods are used after a medical examination.

- Wormwood, oak Mix dried wormwood grass with crushed oak bark. Spread 1 tbsp. l. each type of raw material into earthenware dishes. Brew 300 ml of boiling water. Leave under the lid and towel for two hours. Warm baths are performed with the expressed infusion, immersing the affected heel for 25-30 minutes. You can make lotions for two hours.

If you have already received first aid and a day has passed since the injury, if you have a minor bruise of category 1 or 2, you can begin treating a bruised leg with folk remedies.
Compresses for the injured leg can be made in many ways. Explore three options:
1. Onion. Finely chop the onion or grind it in a blender. Place the resulting pulp on gauze and apply a compress to the bruise every three hours for 20-30 minutes.
2. Wormwood. Soak the stems of wormwood in boiling water for 15 minutes, then chop and place the wormwood porridge on cheesecloth. Apply the wormwood compress for half an hour three times a day.
3. Potato. Peel the potatoes, cut into slices half a centimeter thick, place on gauze and apply to the bruise. You can leave this compress on overnight.
Do not forget that treatment of bruises with folk remedies is possible only after you are absolutely sure that your injury is not serious.
Hand bruise
An injured hand can be treated with all sorts of ointments that will help relieve swelling and pain. The ointment should be rubbed in with light circular movements until absorbed. If the injured area is difficult to fix with a bandage, then you can simply rub it with laundry soap - this is also an effective folk remedy for treating bruises.
First aid for bruises
As soon as the unexpected happens and a person is injured, you must immediately apply something cold to the injured area: ice, a heating pad with cold water, or at least a cold compress. If your arm or leg is bruised, it would be good to apply a tight bandage. The cold compress is changed as it warms up by again soaking the cloth in cold water. This technique slightly anesthetizes, relieves swelling and localizes the bruise, preventing it from spreading wider.
After 2-3 days, treatment proceeds as follows: a warm compress or a warm heating pad is applied to the injured area. You can also take a warm bath or go to UHF therapy. This will help to quickly reduce the area of hemorrhage, and then it will completely resolve.
After the pain has completely passed, you can do a massage or self-massage on the bruised area, especially if it was a bruised limb and the mobility of the joints is somewhat limited. Massage will help to avoid the negative consequences of a bruise and completely restore the motor function of the limbs.
Head contusion
The head is generally a very dangerous place; it must be protected from all kinds of influences, especially injuries. If you or your child suddenly suffers a head injury, seek medical attention immediately. Only a doctor can determine the severity of your injury. If the bruise was minor, then discuss treatment with folk remedies for a head bruise.
How can you relieve the pain of the injured area? Camphor alcohol, for example. Soak a cotton pad with camphor and apply to the bruise. Hot salt can also relieve pain in the injured area. Heat it in a frying pan and pour it into a clean sock. Tie it in a knot and apply it to the bruise using dabbing movements. Do not forget that heating a bruise is permissible only 24 hours after receiving the injury and providing first aid.
Important: if you have a severe bruise, treatment with folk remedies will not help - you need to see a doctor.
Elbow bruise
The elbow is a rather painful place, as there are a lot of nerve endings there. After bruising an elbow, many people experience spots in front of their eyes due to pain. To relieve pain, take the “Star” balm and rub the bruised area. The essential oils contained in this product will distract you from pain and help resolve hematoma and swelling. Another remedy is banana peels. Turn it inside out and wrap it around the bruise with a bandage. The substances contained in banana peels will help relieve swelling and pain.
Damage to the musculoskeletal system
In life, not only athletes, but also any person can get injured in the form of a bruise or sprain:
- Street;
- Work;
- Vacation;
- Transport;
- Swimming pool;
- Dacha or home.
Let's take a more specific look at their overview characteristics.
Injury
This injury occurs as a result of closed mechanical damage to tissues or organs, which is not visually accompanied by violations of their anatomical integrity.
Superficial tissues are often exposed to these damages:
- Skin;
- Subcutaneous tissue;
- Muscles;
- Periosteum.
In this case, when a person is bruised, he experiences intense pain and internal bleeding, which can injure neighboring tissues through compression.
Subcutaneous hematomas that appear at the site of a bruise are first blue in color, and then, closer to recovery, change their color from yellow, then green, and then pink.
Stretching
This injury is the result of overstretching or overloading a longitudinal force along the muscle tissue. Most often it is the ankle or knee joint.
A sprain is caused by injury to the ligaments that connect the muscle to the bone tissue. In this case, individual fibers of the ligament are torn, followed by hemorrhage. The person then feels swelling and joint pain when moving. Sprains or ruptures of ligaments go in tandem with bruises of the joints.
Initial actions
It’s not difficult to get a bruise, but to remove it, you need to work hard. The most effective remedies for bruises and sprains have always been folk recipes. However, when starting first aid to alleviate the condition after a bruise or sprain, you need to know the fundamental points.
- Initially, you need to clean the area of the bruise from dirt. If there are scratches or wounds, they are treated with hydrogen peroxide or a solution of slightly pink potassium permanganate.
- Then you need to immobilize the affected area, or, if possible, not disturb it.
- If a ligament is sprained, it is necessary to bandage it tightly.
- If there is a bruise, apply cold to the area to narrow the blood vessels and reduce possible internal bleeding.
After a day since the bruise appeared, it is treated with heat, compresses, and rubbing.
At this point in our story, we want to distract you a little and talk about the seriousness of minor injuries.
Have you fallen on the street, twisting your ankle in a hole in the sidewalk? This often happens to many people. Everyone knows about this problem of our road infrastructure. But it's not that.
Your bruise is turning purple and not yellow, as it should be, and some strange pulsation has also begun?
Our advice! See a doctor urgently! Perhaps an infection got under the skin through the wound. Don't miss out!
Treatment of bruises with folk remedies in adults
Treatment of an adult differs from treatment of a child in that children also need to be reassured. After receiving an injury, the little man often experiences panic and tears. In this regard, it is much easier for adults to endure the blows of fate. An adult himself knows and understands that a “smelly” onion will be beneficial and will help get rid of a bruise, but the child still needs to be persuaded to use the compress. An adult himself will ask for additional bitters in order to recover faster. And the methods for home treatment of bruises with folk remedies for adults differ from those for children.
For an adult patient, you can prepare alcohol tinctures for a speedy recovery. For example, an alcoholic infusion of arnica. To do this, you need to take a couple of tablespoons of arnica, pour a glass of vodka and place in a water bath. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly, and cover with a lid. Simmer for five minutes and remove from heat. Let cool and strain the tincture through cheesecloth. While it is warm, soak gauze or linen in it and wrap the area of the bruise. Wrap the top with cellophane and a warm towel. You can only keep the compress with arnica tincture for half an hour, so as not to irritate or burn delicate injured skin.
In adults, treatment of bruises with folk remedies is very successful. Why? Maybe because all the necessary components for composing and preparing medicinal products are always available at home. Or maybe it’s because adults don’t really trust doctors and rely more on Mother Nature, using remedies that have been proven for more than one generation. It seems that both reasons apply. As well as a number of others who are driven by a conscious choice of means of treating bruises.
