What should women who have been diagnosed with cervicitis do? Treatment with folk remedies is appropriate in this situation. Many herbal medicines really help speed up the healing process. But you should understand that they can only be used with the permission of a doctor.

General description of the disease. Reasons for the development of cervicitis

Before considering the basic principles of treating cervicitis with folk remedies, it is worth learning more about the nature of the disease itself. Cervicitis is a disease that is accompanied by inflammation of the mucous membrane of the cervical canal (in medicine called the cervical canal).

The inflammatory process can be specific, which is observed, for example, against the background of the activity of genital herpes, infection of the body with gonococcus and other pathogenic microorganisms that are sexually transmitted. Cervicitis can also be nonspecific - we are talking about the activation of opportunistic microorganisms (candida fungi, E. coli, staphylococci, streptococci) against the background of changes in hormonal levels, weakening of immune activity, etc.

What is cervicitis and its forms

With this diagnosis, the inflammatory process affects the uterus itself, its mucous membrane, and also spreads to the ovaries and endometrium.

Depending on the location, there are 2 main forms:

  1. Endocervicitis - inflammation affects the cervical canal.
  2. Exocervicitis is a pathological process that affects only the vaginal part of the uterus.

Based on the nature of the inflammation, the following types of cervicitis are distinguished:

  • Purulent

Infectious transmission occurs mainly through sexual contact. It becomes the cause of inflammatory processes in other nearby organs. The discharge contains pus and mucus.

  • Viral

The causative agent is HPV or genital herpes virus. It is characterized by the appearance of small benign polyps inside the cervix. Itching often occurs.

  • Bacterial

The reason is a change in the microflora of the vagina, namely vaginosis. Pathogenic microorganisms affect both the internal areas of the cervix and the vagina. High risk of infecting a sexual partner. When a sexually transmitted infection occurs, the inflammation takes on a purulent form.

  • Atrophic

The disease causes atrophy (reduction in thickness) of the mucous membranes of the uterus. Often occurs due to age-related hormonal changes during menopause.

All these types may not bother women for a long time. But in this case, the pathological process will spread to all parts of the cervix and neighboring organs. It is important not to skip annual preventive examinations with a gynecologist.

Signs of illness: what to look for?

Of course, the clinical picture depends on the form of inflammation, the nature of the pathogen, and the presence of certain complications. However, the main symptoms can be identified:

  • Cervicitis is accompanied by the appearance of uncharacteristic and often very copious vaginal discharge. By the way, their consistency and other characteristics are an important diagnostic criterion. For example, candidal inflammation is accompanied by the formation of a cheesy white plaque with a sour odor. But against the background of gonorrhea, liquid yellowish discharge appears.
  • Many patients complain of pain. Often, unpleasant sensations intensify during sexual intercourse. The pain is localized in the lower abdomen and is often aching, pulling.
  • Some women notice the appearance of spotting after sexual intercourse.
  • The urge to urinate becomes more frequent.

Symptoms of cervicitis

The clinical picture of cervicitis of the cervix will help the gynecologist determine the degree of development of the inflammatory process and the area of the lesion.

Considering the course of the pathology, the woman is concerned about the following symptoms:

NameSymptoms
Acute cervicitis
  • strong discharge of a mucous nature or with purulent impurities;
  • intense pain in the lower abdomen;
  • the cervical canal becomes inflamed and swollen;
  • hemorrhages, formation of ulcers;
  • severe itching bothers you;
  • protrusion of the mucous membrane;
  • pain during urination.
Chronic inflammation
  • slight mucous, blood or purulent discharge;
  • mild pain in the lower abdomen.
Asymptomatic formThe disease occurs without symptoms. This often happens if a woman has a strong immune system. Inflammation is detected during a routine examination by a gynecologist.

In some situations, the absence of clinical symptoms in cervicitis of the cervix is a consequence of the early stage of malignant processes. Therefore, it is important to periodically undergo examination by a doctor in order to identify pathological changes in the early stages.

Recipes for decoctions of medicinal herbs

Properly selected herbs will help strengthen the immune system, relieve inflammation, eliminate pain and other symptoms. Medicines based on herbal raw materials can be easily prepared independently.

  • Mix one part each of wormwood and adonis herbs with two parts of thyme herb, mint and raspberry leaves, and juniper fruits. Pour two tablespoons of the dry mixture into 1.5 liters of boiling water. Cover the saucepan with a lid and leave for an hour - the product should brew thoroughly. After this, we filter the medicine. The entire volume should be taken within 24 hours, divided into several doses.
  • If we are talking about the treatment of chronic cervicitis with folk remedies, then a restorative decoction can be introduced into the treatment regimen. Mix one part each of wormwood grass, oak bark and bird cherry flowers with two parts of dried strawberry leaves and three parts of rose hips (they need to be chopped first). Pour two tablespoons of dry raw materials into a thermos and pour a liter of boiling water. The mixture should be infused overnight, and in the morning it can be strained. It is recommended to take half a glass per day, preferably before meals. Treatment lasts from 30 to 60 days.
  • It is recommended to take eleutherococcus tincture, which can be purchased at a pharmacy. The product activates the immune system and tones the body.

An effective medicine for candidal inflammation

As already mentioned, the disease often develops against the background of the activity of yeast fungi of the genus Candida. In such cases, it would be useful to prepare a strengthening decoction. Mix two teaspoons of juniper berries and tansy flowers, add a teaspoon of eucalyptus leaves, sage, birch buds, alder cones, and yarrow herb.

Pour boiling water over two tablespoons of the dry mixture and place on low heat - the medicine should cook for 8-10 minutes. After this, cover the container with a lid and let it cool completely. The strained solution should be drunk three times a day, 50-100 ml. It is advisable to take the medicine half an hour before meals.

Treatment of cervicitis with folk remedies: preparing means for douching

Douching is a very popular procedure, which is often included in the treatment regimen for a particular gynecological disease. Treatment of cervicitis of the cervix involves the use of special solutions for irrigation of the mucous membranes of the genital organs. You can prepare the drugs yourself.

  • It is immediately worth noting that calendula and chamomile flowers and sage herb are often used for douching. You can use both pure decoctions (from one component) and their mixtures.
  • If we are talking about treating cervicitis with folk remedies, then it is worth trying a special herbal mixture. Mix coltsfoot leaves, calendula flowers (four tablespoons of each component) with a spoon of chamomile flowers. To prepare the decoction, pour two tablespoons of the composition into a glass of boiling water and leave in a water bath for 15 minutes. The broth should be infused for an hour, after which the liquid can be filtered and used for douching. It is recommended to repeat the procedure twice a day.
  • Mix equal quantities of rose hips, plantain leaves, chamomile flowers, cudweed and yarrow. Pour boiling water over a tablespoon of the mixture and place on low heat for 5-10 minutes. After the broth has infused, it can be strained and used for douching.

It is worth understanding that during the procedure, beneficial bacteria are partially washed out of the vagina, which leads to a disruption in the composition of the microflora. This is why you should first consult a doctor.

Treatment with folk remedies

According to reviews, there are a huge number of folk remedies and recipes that help in the treatment of cervical endocervicitis, but before starting such therapy, you need to consult with a specialist, undergo the necessary examination and determine the cause of endocervicitis. In some cases, it is necessary to first undergo drug treatment, and in some cases, complex therapy is an excellent option.

Among folk remedies, infusions for internal use, decoctions for douching, and ointments have proven themselves well.

Infusions

  • You can also use this product for douching: take a 3-liter jar and mix 1 tbsp in it. l. dried rose hips, yarrow in the same quantity and 2 tablespoons each of chamomile, plantain and dried herbs. Then you need to take 2 tbsp. l. mixture and brew in 2 cups of boiling water. Brew, strain, cool to a comfortable temperature and you can begin the procedure, which should be done at least 2 times a day.
  • A very simple remedy has proven itself well, namely a decoction of oak bark, which is especially suitable for the chronic form of the disease. Pour a glass of hot water into the pan, add 1 tbsp. l. oak bark and cook over low heat for 15 minutes. The finished product should be allowed to brew and cool, then strain and can be used for treatment. Therapy can be carried out for 10-15 days.

Ointments

Herbal ointments are used for tampons, which are placed in the vagina at night. This treatment gives good results, especially if used in combination with drug therapy.

  • It is necessary to take equal quantities of sea buckthorn berries, wheatgrass root, plantain, chamomile, juniper (pine needles), calendula and clover flowers, flax seeds and Icelandic moss. Mix everything well and grind. Place 50 g of the mixture in a convenient container, add half a liter of water and place in a water bath. It is necessary to stir the solution, and when the contents of the container are reduced by half, add 50 g of butter (butter) and cook for about another 25 minutes. Then remove the mixture from the water bath, pour in 50 g of glycerin and stir. When the product has cooled, you need to take a bandage, soak it, make a tampon and leave it on overnight.
  • To prepare another version of the ointment, you can use the following set of herbs, namely lilac flowers, wormwood, sage, dandelion (root), St. John's wort, fireweed (leaves), birch leaves, snake knotweed (root), celandine and flax seeds. Everything is mixed in the same quantity and prepared in the same way as described above.

How to treat chronic cervicitis?

Unfortunately, it is not always possible to detect the disease at an early stage of development. What should patients who are diagnosed with chronic cervicitis of the cervix do? Treatment with folk remedies is possible, but only in combination with drug therapy.

For the chronic form of the disease, oak bark is effective - it can be purchased at the pharmacy. Pour a tablespoon of crushed dry bark into a glass of boiling water. Bring the mixture to a boil and keep on low heat for 15 minutes, after which the broth can be cooled and strained. This solution is used for douching. To achieve the effect, the procedure must be carried out 2-3 times a day for 10-14 days.

Treatment of cervical inflammation

Regardless of the case, it is forbidden to self-medicate, this is explained by the fact that for successful therapy it is necessary to establish the type of pathogen. If medications are used incorrectly, the symptoms of the disease can weaken and cause the pathology to become chronic.

Drug therapy

The appointment is considered justified:

  1. Antibiotics, especially if secondary diseases and complications occur. In severe cases they are administered intravenously, in all others - intravaginally. The main representatives of this group of drugs: Cefoxitin, Cefotetan, Clindamycin.
  2. Antifungal drugs such as Fluconazole, Mycoflucan, especially if the disease is caused by fungi.
  3. Immunostimulants and immunomodulators (Immunal, Immunomax).
  4. Preparations that are endowed with the ability to restore microflora (Gynoflor, Acylact, Bifidumbacterin).
  5. Antiviral agents, such as Acyclovir.
  6. Preparations for topical use with immunostimulating, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects - Ovestin, Livarol, Betin, Terzhinan.

Physiotherapeutic procedures

Physical procedures for inflammation of the cervix are prescribed as an addition to the main treatment. They allow you to reduce the intensity of the pathogenic process, accelerate the regeneration of cervical tissue and improve local blood circulation.

Prescribed:

  1. Electrophoresis. With the help of electrical impulses, swelling and pain disappear, tissue regeneration improves.
  2. UHF. The use of heating for chronic cervicitis is considered justified. There is a disappearance of pain and improved blood circulation.
  3. Mud therapy. The use of organic and mineral substances has a resolving, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and wound-healing effect. The growth and development of fungi and protozoa is suppressed.

Surgical intervention

Surgical treatment is considered justified when diagnosing chronic inflammation of the cervix, which cannot be eliminated with conservative therapy. May be prescribed:

  1. Diathermocoagulation. The use of high-frequency current leads to the formation of a greenhouse effect. As a result, destruction of altered structures and eroded glands is observed, and the connective tissue is regenerated over time.
  2. Laser therapy. The laser tip is inserted into the woman's vagina, and the light beam affects the inflamed area of the cervix. The affected cells begin to evaporate, and the capillaries become sealed. Thanks to this, the procedure is considered bloodless.
  3. Cryodestruction. Infected areas are exposed to low temperatures, and pathogenic cells are frozen.

Folk recipes

Treatment of cervical inflammation with recipes from folk sources must be coordinated with a doctor, and it must be carried out in combination with traditional therapy.

Recipe No1

1 tbsp. l. crushed uterine grass, pour 200 ml of boiling water and leave for 3 hours. Strain the infusion and take twice a day. Treatment should continue for at least one month.

Recipe No2

You need to mix 1 tbsp. l. chamomile, golden mustache leaves, fennel fruits, licorice root and marshmallow. Take 1 tbsp. l. mixture and pour 200 ml of boiling water. Leave for 20 minutes, strain and use for douching twice a day.

Recipe No3

1 tbsp. l. dried rose hips ground into powder must be mixed with 1 tbsp. l. olive oil. Place the mixture in a water bath for 3 hours, strain and cool. Use the solution to place tampons; it is better to do the procedure at night. The duration of treatment is 1 month.

Ointment for insertion into the vagina

Treatment of cervicitis with folk remedies necessarily includes the use of special ointments. They are relatively simple to prepare.

  • To prepare an effective remedy, you need to mix equal parts of birch and fireweed leaves, lilac flowers, flax seeds, dandelion and snakeweed roots, sage herbs, St. John's wort, celandine and wormwood. Pour 50 g of the resulting mixture into 500 ml of boiling water. Place the solution on low heat and leave until the volume of liquid is reduced by half. The cooled broth must be filtered, then add 50 g of honey. The ointment is ready.

The prepared ointment is applied to a strip of bandage, which is then rolled into a tampon, leaving a free end. It is better to leave the product in the vagina overnight. By the way, instead of a bandage, you can use a regular hygienic tampon - this greatly simplifies the procedure. Such procedures allow you to act directly on damaged tissue, which significantly speeds up the healing process.

Alternative vaginal ointment recipe

You can prepare other medicines. Mix equal amounts of sea buckthorn fruits, juniper needles, flax seeds, horsetail grass, as well as calendula and clover flowers, plantain leaves, and Icelandic moss. Pour 50 g of raw material into 0.5 liters of boiling water and place in a water bath. The product should be cooked until half of the liquid has evaporated. The solution must be stirred periodically. Then add 50 g of butter to the mixture and keep the mixture in a water bath for 15 minutes. After the product has cooled, you can strain it and add 50 ml of glycerin.

You need to moisten a tampon or a strip of bandage in a thick solution, which is then inserted into the vagina for several hours.

General recommendations

Before you begin home therapy and prepare certain remedies, you need to familiarize yourself with some general information.

  • Before you start using this or that medicine, be sure to study the properties of all the plants that are part of it and the characteristics of their effect on the body (do not forget that herbal medicines also have contraindications for use).
  • Carefully monitor your body's reaction to taking the drug. If we are talking about plants, then you should understand that sometimes they can cause an allergic reaction. If any unpleasant symptoms appear (rashes and swelling on the skin, redness, burning, rash), you should immediately stop taking/using the product.
  • Be sure to follow storage rules. Try to prepare fresh medications on time.
  • Treatment of cervicitis of the cervix with folk remedies cannot replace full-fledged drug therapy. They can be combined, but only with the permission of a doctor. Do not forget that inept self-medication sometimes leads to the development of complications.

Treatment of cervicitis during pregnancy

Therapy of the inflammatory process during the period of bearing a baby is carried out according to the standard scheme, only dosages of drugs are selected that are gentle for the female body and the baby:

Group of drugsNameApplication
Antifungal drugsLivarol, PimafucinSuppositories should be inserted deep into the vagina. The recommended dosage for a woman is 1 suppository once a day. Treatment lasts 3-5 days.
Antimicrobial drugsBetadine, TerzhinanCandles are used 2 times a day (morning and evening) for a week. Chronic cervicitis is treated within 14 days.
Immunostimulating agentsViferonSuppositories are used rectally. The recommended adult dosage is 1 suppository every 12 hours for 5 days.

If cervicitis of the cervix is diagnosed in a pregnant woman, the sexual partner must also undergo specially formulated therapy.

Treatment of cervicitis with folk remedies: reviews

What do doctors and patients say about traditional methods of therapy? In fact, the reviews are mostly positive. When used skillfully, herbal remedies really help speed up the healing process and relieve symptoms, in particular discomfort and soreness in the lower abdomen. On the other hand, you definitely shouldn’t expect miracles and quick results - natural medicines act slowly and can only be used as an aid; they cannot replace drug therapy. In any case, treatment of cervicitis in women with folk remedies can only be carried out with the permission of the attending physician.
