The basis of Altai folk medicine is the use of maral root (Leuzea safflower). This amazing and inconspicuous-looking plant has received official recognition and is included in numerous biological supplements that help restore a person’s energy potential, increase male strength, and return women to their former beauty and freshness.
Compound
The chemical composition of Leuzea safflower is a combination of macro- and microelements, as well as polysaccharides, antioxidants, vitamins, resins, tannins, steroid compounds, flavonoids, organic acids and lipids. The effect of the beneficial substances contained in the root is as follows:
- Steroid bonds are represented by two elements - ecdisthene and inocosterone. These phytoectisones stimulate the immune system, increase stress resistance and physical endurance, and increase sexual desire.
- The polysaccharide inulin is a connecting link in the body’s absorption of mineral and vitamin complexes, as well as in their proper distribution throughout cells and tissues.
- Essential oil prevents phlegm from accumulating in the bronchi and lungs and produces an adequate immune response to colds.
- Vitamins C and E have a beneficial effect on the blood and have a rejuvenating effect on the body. Vitamin E is especially valuable for women approaching the threshold of menopause.
- Macroelements (manganese, iron) regulate the number of red blood cells, normalize thyroid function and facilitate carbohydrate metabolism. Manganese is involved in optimizing the functioning of the central nervous system.
- Microelements (cobalt, copper, chromium, magnesium, zinc) compact the bone structure, participate in hematopoiesis, promote the transport of nutrients through the bloodstream, lower blood glucose levels, and regulate protein metabolism.
A detailed decoding of the composition of the substance became known relatively recently, but the Altai people have been using the medicinal properties of the maral root for many decades, contraindications and instructions for which you will find below.
What is maral root? Composition, description, photo
On the alpine meadows and banks of the Altai and Sayan mountain rivers you can find a herbaceous perennial with lush feathery leaves. Scientists call it Rhaponticum carthamoides, but among the people the names “deer grass” and “deer root” have taken root.
The straight stems of the plant stretch up to 1.5 meters in height. The leaves are feather-shaped with a serrated edge. The purple inflorescences turn into round achenes in the fall.
The most valuable part of Leuzea is considered to be the rhizome - thick, brown, with long shoots.
It contains a wide range of healing components, including:
- Phytoecdysteroids. These organic compounds actively and effectively fight pathogenic microbes, heal wounds and accelerate the synthesis of muscle proteins.
- Essential oil. It eliminates pain, cramps and nausea.
- Inulin. This natural prebiotic regulates intestinal function.
- Organic acids. They maintain the balance of microflora in the digestive tract.
- Flavonoids. By preventing cell oxidation, antioxidants prevent early aging.
- Coumarins. By thinning the blood, they prevent blockage of blood vessels.
- Tannins. Tannins dry wounds and strengthen artery walls.
